    A1989 820-00850-A - No Image on internal LCD

    Hello all, i have one A1989 that is working fine but internal LCD is not showing anything (to me it looks like no image). When i connect external LCD i can operate system and work like normal, just internal LCD is not working

    There was burned connector on LCD and also the flex was burned.

    On repair wiki i've found that there should be U9850 that is responsible for this but i don't see this IC on board (checking schematics and there is no component with name U9850)

      No GMUX on boards without dGPU. Almost always damaged CPU eDP output after backlight power rail arcs with eDP AUX line.

          I've just checked J8500 and Pin 1 EDP_INT_AUX_N in 0V (in diode mode)

          Does this mean that it's unrepairable and macbook can be used only on external screen ?

              Yes, unless you replace the CPU. Louis Rossman has been very critical of this design decision by Apple. It's a very common fault.

                  I have a MacBook Pro A1989 that was likely exposed to liquid. It doesn't display an image on the built-in screen, but the screen is backlit (you can't see the Apple logo or any other elements when held up to light). The laptop provides 20V and 1.5-2A, and it works fine when I use it with an external monitor. Currently, the connector for the display (J8500) is disconnected.                   Hi everyone,

                  I need your help with this repair that I’m working on at the moment, it’s a Macbook Pro A1989 board number: 820-00850A.
                  When i got the laptop from the customer the laptop just booted up with the charger connected but with no display or backlight.
                  i found out that the charging ports were slightly burned so i replaced it but the fault was resolved, so my next step was to check the board and found out that
                  both charging Ic’s was faulty and i ordered 2 new ic’s and replaced them.

                  After i replaced the ic’s the laptop boots up and keep...

                  iMac 21.5" A1418 2017 4K is not showing an image properly.. It shows an image externally without issues but to the internal screen it's intermittent.

                  Another screen results the same thing, it's a main logic board issue.

                  I had doubts about the LVDS connector so I replaced it, still the same issue..

                  The main logic board diagnostics LEDs are 5.. #1, #2, #3 works OK but #4 is half on and #5 is off.. I don't know what #4 means while it's not completely off or completely on..

                  Anybody having an idea or seen this...

                  a2141 820-01700 internal display not working / external works

                  Hey ya'll this is my first post on here. I recently aquired a used/broken 2019 mbp 16 a2141 with the 820-01700 board. Seller told me that the laptop needed a new lcd. However upon doing some troubleshooting i found out the lcd is fine.

                  Laptop boots like a normal, plays chime, touchbar lights up however there is no image on the internal lcd. If i connect and external monitor while its already on, nothing happens and no image is displayed on external. However if i restart or boot the machine while its plugged in, the external then works and a backlight is now visible on the laptop....
