    820-3437 ex water damage SSD not detected

    hi everyone,

    i have problem with macbook air 820-3437 ex water damage.
    before it was dead but after some touch on IO board flexible and changing shorted caps i can turn it on. the SSD works fine before but after couple days the question mark folder shows up.

    here are some measurements:

    SSD_RESET_L = 0.55V
    SSD_PWR_EN = 3.25V
    P3V3SSD_VMON = 0V
    PP3V3_S0SW_SSD = 0.99V
    SSD_RESET_CONN_L = 0V

    Already changed U3740 but still the same
    R3742 = 97K
    R3741 = 116K
    R3740 = 85K

    can someone give me a hint?

    Should be 3.3V. Review U8070. In the past I've had corrosion under this IC, either at pin1, or at the ground pin itself (pin 8). Corrosion can sometimes be under the mask, look for a bubbling effect around this IC.

      i change u8070 and get some measurements:

      SSD_RESET_L = 0.9V
      SSD_PWR_EN = 3.25V
      P3V3SSD_VMON = 0.9V
      PP3V3_S0SW_SSD = 3.3V
      SSD_RESET_CONN_L = 0V

        Should be 3.3V. Pulled high when PLT_RESET_L is asserted via R1639, unless pulled low by the PCH. So check these areas.

        I have had this due to a bad output from the PCH on a 820-3437 Macbook Pro board. I circumvented it by pulling SSD_RESET_L high via a 100 ohm pullup from PP3V3_S0SW_SSD. Basically, when PP3V3_S0SW_SSD is enabled, it pulls the reset line high at the same time. Attached image is from that MBP board.

            Still working to this day. Easier than changing the CPU.

                Stagg sms12p audio amp has water damage
                by edugimeno
                Hi! My friend just brought this audio amplifier/speaker fro his music band saying they realized its got no sound. Led powers up but there no sound at all
                I opened it and found 3 board. 2 of them are for input plugs and potentiometers, and the other larger board has the amplifiers for 2 large speakers that it drives
                There's also a large toroid transformer that feeds a lower voltage to the first 2 boards and a larger voltaje (36x2 rectified close to 100v) to the power board. The power board has the plugs for both speakers
                There is only one signal wire connecting the first boards...

                Like title says A2141 came in with Water Damage, customer desperately wants the data.

                The actual water ingress doesn't appear too bad it sat for a day but was very dusty internally. I have no idea why L8504 was arced there is no apparent moisture there or around the LVDS cable; however, the LVDS to screen screw studs had popped off at some point and somebody tried securing it with kapton tape.

                I had to create a micron wire pad jumper to reconnect the south side of the L8504 since the primary pad was blasted down to the vias.

                That said after cleaning up the...

                Macbook A1708 with water damage and problems after removing U2800
                by dbuergi
                Hi all,

                i got a A1708 with water damage. I cleaned everything and the board started normal. But the next day i got 20v but no booting. Thermal cam showed over 160c (never had a chip getting this burning hot before) in U2800 and some shorts on the caps around it. After removal shortages were gone and i installed a donor U2800 which worked before.
                Sadly now the device stays at 5v, 0,4a and 1,9w and i don't find the problem.USB ports worked fine before....
