Macbook A1932 One Port stuck at 5v.

    I have a Macbook A1932 820-01521.

One port was drawing 20V and another port was drawing 5V. Machine did turn on.

    Found corrosion near U3100 the CD3215 .
2 Resistors were missing. Cleaned and replaced them but still the same.
Reflow a few nearby components in that area in which i suspected corossion.

Is it a CD3215 fault. Is there any way i can check?

It was a CD3215 Issue. To my knowledge if one goes bad both stop working but here only the bad chip stopped working while the other was okay.

Replaced the malfunctioning chip and the Macbook works okay now.

      820-01521-A (MacBook Air A1932 2019) stuck on 5V
      by mferna14
Hi all dear friend., today I am working on 820-01521-A logic board (MacBook Air A1932 2019) stuck on 5V .19 milliamps. The history of this logic board was liquid spill on major components. First gave a good cleanup & both CD3215C00Z were getting very hot, so I replaced both. Now on the 12V coil, there is only 5v present & 3.3V is perfect. In some area like PPVIN_G3H_P3V3G3HRTC , PPBUS_G3H_TPAD etc., 12V is perfect. On the 5v coil .2 volts only. I checked the enable signal on the regulator chip, enable is NOT present. The logic board is very clean, I do not see any signs of spill anymore....

MacBook Pro A1707 Motherboard Diagnostic Help – CD3215 heating and Fluctuating Rails
      by Cemal Odabasioglu
      Hello everyone,

I'm currently diagnosing a MacBook Pro A1707 motherboard that does not power on. I've gathered some data but am stuck and need expert advice.
Note that i'm a beginner in electronics and i'm trying to learn while trying to repair this macbook that my work gave me. I'm really curious and love understanding how thing works and i already learned so much.

Only one usb c port is taking 20v and have 12.5v on PPBUS_G3H. when trying other ports, 2 are not going to 20v and one is going to 20v but the CD3215 is getting really hot.

MacBook Air 2018 A1932 820-01521 stuck at 5V, but succesfully does the DFU and boots into OS installer
      by mitchw
I have a 820-01521 that is stuck at 5V, and drawing just 230mA.
I did some troubleshooting, and managed to charge the battery up (was at 0%) using a different logic board.
Also I ran DFU and it did it successfully. Had to use a PMU_FORCE_DFU jumper to do it.
At this point the laptop started up and it successfully boots into the OS Install.

The charger is now at 20V, but drawing 0mA, so the laptop is essentially running off the battery. It doesn't detect the charger...

I think there could be a problem with one of the CD3215s, but all the LDOs are the...

      MacBook Pro 13 inch A2238 M2 stuck on 5V
      by Bmet
      Hi,

I have a MacBook Pro 13 inch A2238 M2 and it was stuck 5V with 0 amps. I measured some important lines and I found a short on PP3V8_AON_MPMU_ISNS_VIN, I tried injecting 1v and I saw heat coming from the mPMU so I removed the pmu thinking that was the problem. I don't know why I didn't check the other side of the border but there it was, a shorted cap. I replaced the cap and the short was gone, so I reballed the PMU and put it on again but voltage was still stuck at 5V and the current was fluctuating between 0 and 0.45 amps. I checked under the thermal camera and I saw the mPM...
