Alienware 17 R2 (P43F001) no display

Hi,

i have this Alienware 17 R2 that turns on but gives no display, i connected it with an other screen to see if it gives any display and nothing.

I don't know what to do to find what is the problem :/

without display does it beep?
without display with hdmi u have picture?
withour ram does it beep ?

Ok so no beep, nothing BUT the screen turns on, i have a beep when i unplig the battery and replug it.
So could it be a problem with the vbios or bios ? i'm clueless here...

many 17 r2 get dead with shorted cpu mosfet, but to check that u sould disassembly whole mainboard.

before that did u try reset cmos battery ?
withour ram does it beep ?
if without ram no beep can be bad bios, bad pch or bad cpu.

My bad, without ram it does 2 beeps and loop !
And apologies but the laptop show no display, it's an other computer that shows a display ^^'
Currently i have 2 beeps without ram, i'm reseting the cmos battery now, and i will try to restart it

The vcore is at the end of the big coils next to cpu ? (where the cpu mosfet are)

I have 1.7v vcore at the end of the coils (between the cpu and the coils)

are there any schematics for this old alienware ?

schematic should be available. check for board code like la-xxxx. if u can try other bios , maybe already posted here.

I tried this method to flash the bios

But it does not work, the laptop turns on and after a minute or two it reboots, i guess i have to flash it with a chk341a

Ok little update, i flashed the bios, it looked like it worked with the chk341a.
Now i have 7 beeps (CPU failure), so cpu is down i guess but with no short on the mosfets, strange...

What else could it be ?

try remove cmos battery. then power on. it shoul beep 5 timers. power off then power on again and see if it still beep 7 times.

So i tried what you said, the laptop turned on 3 times, beeped 5 times then beeped 7 times

I started to search around the mosfets of the cpu but i don't know how to interpret these values, the mosfets are double mosfets, i don't really know how these works but i got some values :

PQ505 & 506

G1 to GND : 3k to 5k
D1 to GND : 460 ohms
S1 to GND : 17 ohms
G2 to GND : 30k
D2 to GND : 17 ohms
S2 to GND : 0 ohm

PQ503 & 504

G1 to GND : 315 ohms
D1 to GND : 460 ohms
S1 to GND : 17 ohms
G2 to GND : 30k
D2 to GND : 17 ohms
S2 to GND : 0 ohm


PQ501 & 502

G1 to GND : 480 ohms
D1 to GND : 460 ohms
S1 to GND : 17 ohms
G2 to GND : 30k
D2 to GND : 17 ohms
S2 to GND : 0 ohm

mosfet values are ok. u have all s0 volts except cpu vcore?

are u sure bios and ec are ok ?

I don't know how to verify the state of the bios and EC, i just reflashed the Bios, but i don't have a EC programmer :/

ec bios is a 8 pin chip. ec bios and bios must be both ok to make it work.

that kind of problem could also be pch that need to be reballed.
