    MacBook Air 13” A1466 820-3437

Hello house, please I need help with a MacBook Air 2013 13inches

    Board number: A1466 820-3437

came in dead, no green light on charger

    ppbusg3h reads 8.18v
    PP3V42_G3H reads 3.4v

Noticed corrosion on the board which I cleaned and ppbusg3h went back to 8.54v and green light came on from charger

Disconnected charger to put the board back in its housing and green light wasn't coming on anymore, checked ppbusg3h and it now reads 8.18v as it was before

How do I proceed cos I'm guessing there's probably a problem with smc or u7100 but I don't just want to jump in and change them

    Original power adapter?

    Is the battery connected?

Attach both, the power adapter & battery, then check the voltage to ground on each pin of D7005.

    Post each measurement.

Missing a green light is usually the 3v42 rail missing to power the single wire communication line inside of the magsafe power head.

Check trackpad and it's flex for liquid damage. Can also be crap under the SMC too. Have one I have to reball for SMC_RESET_L randomly being pulled low and it's not U5110.

The laptop now works great, apparently the corrosion clean up I did probably fixed it already cos I got 8.5v on ppbusg3h after clean up but somehow went back to 8.18v

Just when I wanted to measure as you had adviced, noticed the power bumped up, tested it and it came on, I suspect it was a partial contact kinda situation, hopefully it doesn't come back for another repair till the owner decides to sell it

Thanks and I really do appreciate your time

Yeah, I did a reflow on the SMC and some other components that had visible corrosion, it works great now, thanks

Sometimes the reflow works but faults can later reoccur. The one I mentioned in my last post had been reflowed, but later failed a few weeks later. It was reflowed again, fixed the SMC reset issue, but then missing one of the other signals in the power sequence. Reballing it solved the problem.
