Be 100% that the pin with the low resistance is not ground. Fairly confident that you are doing this properly so far. Dial up 0v8 on the display. We want to keep the voltage as low as possible. Then apply the short killer onto the pad with the low resistance. Check who heats up. Hope it is a capacitor. The injection should smoke out the shorted part.
Well I usually use 0.9v. Voltage injection shows UC5 heating up but the current draw is only 0.14A. from my previous post...do you think that UT10 is good?

Given that the short was still present after UT10 was removed, UT10 is probably ok. Personally, would leave UT10 off till the shorted part is found and removed. Everyone in this region is a suspect. These days, they offer cooling fans that operate from USB ports - this is totally mental. The USB type A bus spec was created to support 100mA / 500mA and peak of 900mA for USB 3.0 ports. Using to cook a hot dog is not a good fit for the USB port.

For now, you are only losing out on the use of the USB port if the USB load switch is removed.

UC5 is linked to the CPU.

You are injecting the voltage @ +5VALW but UC5 is heating up? This voltage is mated to the VBIAS pin on UC5.

It isn’t really heating up with a current draw of 0.14A it’s just visible with the thermal cam. Are you thinking the CPU is fried?. This board really came to me because someone tried to put an external switch via jumper wires to the keyboard connector and it wasn't powering on after that….. sad if the CPU is gone though. Is there any way I can verify that? Or is there any where else you'd like me to probe just to make sure.
