Asus A555LF (X555LD Rev.3.6 Board) Not Turning On With Power Button

the board (yes, just the motherboard & daughter board) came to my desk with shorted ITE8585E, after ordered a programmed ITE and placing it on motherboard it turned on immediately, using HDMI i confirm that the boot entering the bios since there is no bootable drive attached. then i turned off by unplugging the DC adapter, while preparing keyboard, mouse & some flashdrive to boot into.

after all plugged (including adapter) the board doesn't "auto turn on" like before, pressing power button with no change. without unplugging anything i'm checking voltages needed for turned on and it's all there.

before flashing the bios, i then reflow the ITE8585E then check all 128 pin one by one to confirm it soldered properly to the board and all pass, try pluged in dc adapter still doesn't turn on, no excesive heat generated after replacing the ITE before and after reflowing with hot air.

after searching for bios, i can't found for X555LF version, all have X555LA or X555LAB version, so i decided to try edit it from asus website and the board back to life and able to boot to flashdrive i've plugged without error

but the main problem still exist, it can't turn on after turned off, no matter from window or linux or from power button i turn it off, it won't turned on again by pressing power button, EXCEPT if i unplug then plugged the adapter it will turn on, already tried the solution from https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showpo...16&postcount=3 and still the same

    did i miss something here?
it's been almost a week with no progress, please help...

let me know when you need the bios

    1) post or link the schematic if available.

    2) review the usual 2*DCin mosfets to check if they are leaking. Which charger IC is onboard?

      1) sorry my bad, i used schematic from https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...ghlight=x555ld

      2) 2*DCin mosfet is at Mega Ohm range on my meter (Gate-Source, Gate-Drain, Source-Drain). it use BQ735 for charger IC

        See attached.

Confirm that PWR_SW# indeed goes to logic LOW when pressed; logic high otherwise. This is an active LOW signal to toggle the ON / OFF status of the logic board.

If the default pull-up resistor is missing or defective, this could be a fault.

power sequence, yes, that's i've been looking for

PWR_SW# is working as it should, on power button pin and pin 110 of ITE8585E. it has 3.2V when not pressing power button and 0V when pressing power button

I would also consider a bad SPI flash in a weird case like that.

yes, because before flashing he ask about the exact model number on the sticker (X555LF)

tried changing SPI chip with fresh one (same model numberof SPI chip) but nothing change, but when i try accessing Easy Flash menu from bios the laptop restart, and i try download Bios-Utility from asus website (https://www.asus.com/id/supportonly/...desk_download/) the installer detected that it's not an asus laptop!

                        any ideas...?

IIRC, you have to have one of the other Asus utlities installed for the Windows BIOS update tool to recognise it as an Asus system. ATK package or something like that.

Failing that, dump out your BIOS and upload it to the BIOS group for someone to repair it.

finally after long duration of brain storming, the problem solved guys!!!!

so, this is what i've done. in case someone had a same or similiar issue

flashing the original SPI chip with the lowest version of bios from asus website for the model, after installed the chip & restoring default on bios menu then i fresh install win 10 pro. without installing any driver needed then i try installing the Bios-Utility with result on post #12

after failed install the Bios-Utility then i re-download latest bios version from asus website and saved it on the hard drive, then i access Easy Flash from bios menu and it didn't restart like before. with finger crossed i waited until flashing process completed and it did. after restart, i forget to enter the bios to access the restore default menu.

so i let the windows boot to desktop and wait until no hard drive led activity, still with finger crossed then i shutdown the system. then i press power button and it TURNED ON!!! immediatelly pressing F2 to enter bios and confirmed that the version is the same with latest version on asus website, after restoring default then i let the windows to boot and repeat the shutdown - turn on without issue.

thank's for all your help guys, i think admin can change the title as "solved" or something like that

just wandering, what was happened actually?

                                Hi,
I recently bought an ASUS ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING motherboard that was listed as "dead, not powering on." However, it does show some signs of life. I've performed several basic measurements and would like to share the results.
                                • The board enters a "ready to power on" state after plugging in the PSU.
                                • Pressing the power button increases power draw.
                                • Sometimes, touching the RSMRST_L pad with a multimeter probe causes the board to shut off and return to standby.
                                Measurements:
(taken after pressing the power button, while the board is attempting to start)

                                Hi everyone,
I am trying to learn electronics repair. I purchased a “faulty for spares/repairs” ASUS X99-PRO/ USB 3.1 motherboard for a very low price from ebay – a good enough price to offset the high probability that the board was completely toast and not realistically repairable.
                                Initial results:
Board would power-cycle when turned on either with switch on board or shorting pwr pins. Fan would spin for a second or so and a QCODE of 00 would display then it would power off and then do the same thing again over and over. I think maybe 2 times in about 100 attempts...

                                Hello everybody,

This is my first post here, I've always loved to tinker with electronics, but never got in-depth with it. Hope I can learn a thing or two from this forum.

I've got a 31.5" Asus monitor which distorts/flickers at equal intervals of a couple of seconds. From what I've gathered, it's an issue with the T-CON board, but feel free to correct me. Shipping from the manufacturer would cost 3x as much as the part itself. I was wondering, if there is a way to diagnose the board itself and replace the faulty components? I'm good with soldering, but not at all...
