Dell latitude 7390 WHEA unconrrectable error

    Greetings...
Please, I need assistance with the above system. It brings BSOD with the above error.

    What have I done?

    1. I have tried dell's pre-boot diagnostic, and no error was given in the process.
    2. I tried to boot from an external media but the same BSOD error appeared during the process
    3. SSD was removed from the system and tried to boot from external media again, the same error was encountered.
    4. no changes with the RAM changed
    5. no changes with the WiFi card removed

    What have I noticed?
    1. the system stabilizes in safe mode.
    2. the BSOD appears when there's a spike in the CPU temperature- I discovered that when the heatsink was touched.

Please help, I'm out of Ideas.

all indicators point to the motherboard, but I don't know which part is responsible for the BSOD.

note that the BSOD appears with or without SSD

This model had issues with Intel HD Driver/drivers ,leading to BSODs . Dell announced a fix once , so I suggest you go to their site and ask for it .

I have seen it, but i don't think it is related to my case. Theirs was about the display driver that needed to be updated.

but my case is different, the problem persists even without SSD installed on the system. I can't use bootable USB on the system, it will pops up the BSOD during deployment.

      Update on the system:
I noticed when PL612 gets 0.7v, the BSOD pops up. but no BSOD if no power is introduced to the coil. and that is +VCC_GT

        This problem has been solved!

Interested in knowing how it was solved? Pay attention to the following steps taken:

        1. check the thread for troubleshooting steps taken so far.

        2. I desoldered the PL612, which resulted into no display after; it was resoldered

        3. I had a deep reflection on what was happening-

        i. the POST test does not report any hardware error

ii. the WHEA pointed to the CPU since the BSOD would only come up when there is a spike in the voltage supply at the PL612, which resulted in a spike in the CPU temperature and SSD

iii. WHEA error persisted even with a bootable device

iv. The crash is at random but with the same WHEA error

        v. The system stabilizes in the safe-mode
vi. The error persists even with everything removed i.e SSD, WiFi card, RAM swapped, KB, Trackpad, et al.

        4. The BIOS firmware was updated, still no improvement.

        Now the breakthrough!

I focused on the BIOS settings and made adjustments one after another.

Guess what? it turned out the CPU hyperthreading was responsible. everything became normal after it was disabled.

I hope you will find this helpful someday

Replace CPU maybe resolve the problem
