Another component identification please - these Xbox controllers are a pain in the rear end haha

Could someone please help me with yet another Xbox controller component..
I have 2 Xbox Series X motherboards to hand (one being a faulty spare for parts only) and the other being a family friends faulty MB. He inserted 2 x AA Alkaline batteries and decided to plug the controller into USB-C which instantly made some magic smoke appear and wants me to see if I can fix it for him.
Yet another white (limited edition MB though)
truclacicr I know you are pretty good at previous id's, but anyone else can help me also

    Many thanks

look for another one on the board and meter it maybe
i dont understand why putting a usb cable in while batteries are fitted would do damage though.
