Re: Golden Tee 98 Display
the flyback in wells-gardner and hantarex monitors is known to fail,
it's not the hole thats the problem, it's the shorted windings inside - the hole is just a side-efect of the heat from arcing.
a new transformer will 99% fix it - a few caps will complete the repair.
what converter did you get? a GBS8200/8220?

Re: Golden Tee 98 Display
I ended up buying a converter and am putting a lcd in the machine. Another question please. Would the flyback cause this on the screen. Don't mind the black, that's my phone I think. I siliconed the flyback temporary to see if it would get better and it didn't. Oh the number on the flyback is TLF09-04

Re: Golden Tee 98 Display
if the transformer is arcing then replace it - check the number stamped on it.
it doesnt look like a k7000

Re: Golden Tee 98 Display
It's a k7000. So would it be safe to replace the flyback and recap it? I think the part number is BSC25-0146

Re: Golden Tee 98 Display
I searched the net and it says the u2000 was a common problem and to replace it with a k7000 or k7400. So would I just need to replace the flyback transformer?

Re: Golden Tee 98 Display
it looks like a wells gardner chassis - not sure the model but it should be a "U2000" from the manualAttached Files

Re: Golden Tee 98 Display
there is no power board,
the chassis board handles the power and deflexion,
the small board on the tube neck does the colours

Re: Golden Tee 98 Display
Thanks for the quick reply. I'm just out but I can take a look when I get home. The power board for the screen is humming pretty good.

Re: Golden Tee 98 Display
it's the monitor - focus is out
try ajusting the focus control on the high voltage transformer.
does the chassis have a make/model marked on it?
