Re: Cummins ISX15 ECM component identification
a line heater?
i would have expected something like that to have a standalone module -it's not like it's needed in most of the world

@redwire - these set of pins apparently go to a line heater. The current sense monitoring makes sense.

its guaranteed not a poly fuse.

Re: Cummins ISX15 ECM component identification
If it's on a ground return, it would be a low-side current-sense resistor. You can see the instrumentation amp next to it. What are pins 84+85 going to?
Automotive ECU standard requires all pins to tolerate short to GND, short to power. I guess Cummins doesn't play by that.
I'd say 84+85 shorted to power somehow, probably mechanic pissing around.

Re: Cummins ISX15 ECM component identification
Definitely not a capacitor. Either an SMD resistor or a fuse.

Re: Cummins ISX15 ECM component identification
I think you got to probe the two pads out and see what they are. Could be a fatal mistake if it was a cap and now you put a fuse or a resistor in.

Resistor. Just unclear I'd this is the same component or same value.

there is another green thing on the board - see if it's a fuse

Cummins ISX15 ECM component identification
Morning all,
Have this ECM, p/n: 5317106 from a heavy truck.
Report was pins 84+85 were not supplying necessary constant ground. Found this traumatized component which is in-line with the GND pins in question. I've located a similar component on-board, but would like to confirm.
Anyone happen to know if references are available, or if someone might have one of these open on a bench?
Could bridge, but suspect this may be for current sensing as well.
Thanks in advance !Tags: None
