Great forum - stumbled upon this trying to remove BIOS password from a few EliteDesk 805 G6's I've got. Was able to get a dump of the bios, I THINK. Chip says - MX25L3255E. asprogrammer / neoprogrammer doesn't have that one listed. Was able to pull presumably the BIOS using MX25L3275E - the hex shows a fair bit of non-gibberish strings so I think its good. However the RCUnlocker shows Missing Unlockable content when I drop the BIN in. Any help appreciated!

Well per this link: https://smh-tech.com/macronix-mx25l3255e/ I wonder if im not grabbing the BIOS, since its only a 4MB chip. The other chips on the board don't seem to be marked that they are bios chips though. Could someone let me know where the BIOS (and I guess the PRVROM) are located on the mobo? It seems I need both...

Hi, would really appreciate help removing BIOS password on my 805 G6 mini pc. Unable to use tools like RCUnlocker as this does not support this 32MB chip. HPUnlocker does not list EliteDesk or G6 as supported models, so I'm reluctant to use this tool.
I have attached verified reads from both chips (marked BIOS and PRVROM)

Well, after I found the right BIOS & PVROM chip - hint, its not the SOP8, its the 2 WSON8 chips under the HDD sled / next to the PCI wifi slot - I was able to desolder, dump, and fix! My first time using a heat gun, and on as small of a chip to boot.

Thanks for this - was super easy to do and instantly worked. My PVROM had data up to 37AA0, I Cleared it for good measure and it worked just fine. There's more data @ 38000 that starts with NvramActiveRegn, I DID NOT clear this and it still let me into BIOS with no PW just fine.

I did *JUST* the PVROM chip - NOT the BIOS chip, as a few others have mentioned.

I have a bootloop issue on my HP 805 G6 SFF. After a Windows 11 SP, the BIOS was updated... to a v2023 known by HP to generate bootloops, a sign of planned obsolescence !
I can still access the BIOS, but since I don't have the password, I need your help.
I have a CH341b black PCB (+3.3V mod with your tuto) + SOP8 adapter clip, but I still get the "IC not responding" error in NeoProgrammer.
The motherboard is disassembled, the CMOS battery is removed. I've tried several USB connectors to connect the CH341 and I've repositioned the clip adapter several times, but always "IC not responding."
The PC boots with the BIOS, so the EEPROM is working.
I have 3 questions :
- Do you have any explanations / suggestions ? Is there anything I did wrong? before investing in a more expensive solution like the Xgecu T48.
- I read lot of comments and why do you need two dumps? "Download the contents of your two firmware chips" are you talking about the same chip? one dump is not enough?
- I know that using my hotgun to desolder is more reliable than clip adapter, but I'm a little afraid of burning chip or break a pin...
If I buy a new blank MX25L25673GZ4I-08G chip (3$), is it possible to program it without needing to read the original(dump backup), flashing with an adapted .bin (combinaison of official HP .bin file with Serial & Product No) ?
