need help to recover fine usb on asus m4a785dm pro mb

got an m4a785dm pro
got the boardview

pb is:
usb sometimes works sometimes not
specially on usb wifi stick
works fine and stops....

its arrived after a short circuit on usb external drive

pse help got not idea to begin with

Have you checked for bad solder joints on ports, bad caps?

use a usb power meter and see what voltage its putting out on the power lines.

check for broken lines to the usb port and inspect the port see if any fingers are loose / broken.

give it a hard look and check for anything that looks strange on the board

it could be shorting out intermittently if the whole bus drops for all ports.

"edit" when the ports drop do you see a device in device manager drop/go error?

If exist check 0 ohm resistors and/or recoverable fuses in series in the 5V power line going to the USB socket. The short may have decalibrated the resistor/fuse so you may have an unintended voltage drop on these parts. As next I'd check the power regulator generating the USB 5V from 12V ATX power (probably UPU2, or UPU1, don't know which USB port you mean).

well the pb is on all usb... begin to work fine and never at same timer begin to work uncorectly... i suspected 1st the brackets but its same with direct port on the mb

hi did not check yet but i try to follow the diagram
so...
most coponents are passive except UPU1 connected to UPU2
goes to UD1 and UD2
manage also the usb/sata and usb/lan block

as i said the pb began with a short by a deffective usb external disk
and is on all usb connector

i suspect this one UPU1 what is a usb multiplexer
what u think ? and how may i control it ?

same pb on all usb...
btw ive checked all 0 ohms... theyre right

ok finished... the card is 15 years old and some tracks are dead...
mark as resolved card is dead
