New: Diagnosing Faulty GPU with a Bench PSU!

Hi guys ,I know a lot of you enjoyed the Complete GPU Repair Guide video that I put on Youtube a few weeks ago.
    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=99567

Well' I've been at it again - I devised a technique for diagnosing the condition / fault on a GPU just using a Bench PSU, then using the multimeter to narrow down the problem further. But just with the Bench PSU you can work out pretty much what is wrong with the graphics card. I've not seen anyone else using this method, though I am sure I am not the first.

So here it is - I hope this also helps you guys further your diagnostic skills with GPU repair

This Video explains how to set up the test rig (very inexpensive to do)

This video demonstrates it's use, experimenting with some old GPUs - and explains how to understand what the PSU is telling you

    Enjoy

Help diagnosing faulty Samsung TV 32' UE32D5000
    by DarkGT
Greetings. That's my first post here, I hope this is the right section for my question.
I have 11 years old Samsung TV that develop backlight issues week after I decided to update the firmware from 1011 to 1028. Not sure if related considering the age.

At first the backlight would blink and then would start working fine, if I turn off and on the tv the issue will re-appear. I dissemble it and found that none of the caps show any discoloring, leaks or signs for problems. Sound and screen would work fine, only the backlight will blink once every 5 sec or so. I tried to disconnect...

HUAWEI Matebook D15 Bom-WDQ9 - faulty onboard RAM
    by JarzabekPZ
I have a Huawei Matebook D15, MB DAH98PMBAB0 REV. B with faulty onboard RAM. Laptop starts but when loading Windows instantly gets BSOD's. Passmark Memtest shows multpile faults on test 11. Memory is itentified as 2 modules Samsung M471A5244CB0-CWE, which are available as standard so-dimm. Is it possible to desolder memory from such module and solder it on the MB? How to identyfiy which one on the MB is faulty?

Hi, Can we use SMPS Bench Power Supply for Laptop troubleshooting?
    by shamsudeen
Hi all, I just need to know that, can i use SMPS type power supply to test and short circuit detection on a laptop motherboard?
I saw 95% of repair guys are using only Linear bench power supply. linear bench power supply is pricy, thats why i planned to get one SMPS supply.

i know that in linear power supply the noise will be very low comparing to SMPS supply....

    Bench test a series X
    by Eniaro
How do you bench test a series X? I was planning to find a defective PSU to use its connector, but before I go about doing this, I was wondering if there's any bench PSU to the series X connector adapter available

Why doesn't current just bypass faulty capacitors.
    by Spudgun
Hello esteemed members. I appreciate that my question will strike some as being somewhat childishly simple, but it genuine perplexes me! I have repaired several laptops before by removing a faulty capacitor that was short-circuiting the motherboard, whereupon the laptop would then work. For me, it begs the question that, if the current can bypass where the capcitor was when it has been removed, why didn't it just bypass it when it was present and faulty,? I can't get my head round the premise that if the other side of the capacitor is connected to ground, then why doesn't the current simply bypass...
