    Epox EP-3PTA

I've opened case on a server at work - just to see what crappy (noisy) CPU cooler is there. And found bad caps on the board instead (Epox EP-3PTA)...

    Re: Epox EP-3PTA

Here it is - there are GSC and TEAPO caps.

TEAPOs are all OK (4x 2200uF/6.3V, 2x 1500uF/6.3V, 2x 1000uF/6.3V). The 2200uF/6.3V are used for CPU voltage filtering so the board it still worked without any problems.

GSC are bad, of course. 2 of 5 1000uF/6.3V bulged with that orange crud on tops, 3 of 3 2200uF/10V too. One big 3900uF/10V GSC is bulged really nice.

I'll replace all GSCs and leave TEAPOs there for now.

GSC is known to be a total crap. And the worst thing is that these bad caps are still being manufactured.

Yes, it's one of the worst brands. They're almost always bad.

Another one - the machine was crashing randomly. No wonder as the board was full of bulging and leaking GSC crap...

OLD Socket 478 custom bracket + NEW generic cooler
            by BleedCap
I already posted this on vogons.
Its a 3d printed custom bracket for socket 478.
I used this AM4 bracket as a base design.
Its to be use with cheap generic clip based cpu cooler.

            Reason for doing this is:
            - Its hard to get/find a good copper base cooler. Even if you find one, the price is ....
            - New generic cooler is cheaper and can use bigger fan (less noise)

I tested the bracket with cheap chinese horizontal cooler + fan taken from CM hyper 212 evo.
The processor that I was using is P4 2.4Ghz prescott....

Epox EP 85 MVP3C-M - 3.54v Vcore regardless of jumpers
            by kotel studios
            Hi,

Recently I got an Epox EP-85 MVP3C-M board from scrap. After fixing the broken caps I powered it on without CPU and the jumpers set to 60Mhz FSB and 2x multiplier.
Sadly, Vcc3 was stuck at 3.54v regardless of jumpers. Vcc2 (Vi/o I think) was also the same voltage.
So, I've returned to the original configuration I got the board in - 100Mhz FSB and 4x multiplier. Voltages haven't changed at all.
            What I've tried so far:
replace the original N-MOSFETs with beefier 60V ones for testing
Resolder the resistors near the Vcore Jumper block
            Short Vcore...

Wine cooler flickers at startup and doesn't cool enough
            by edugimeno
            Hi there!
I have an old wine bottle cooler, it's a basic peltier cell system with a power supply built in with the controller board, with a simple display at the front door and 2 push buttons to select the desired temperatura.
Symptoms are it doesn't barely cool down, and makes a chirping noise at the board.
Both fans on each side of the peltier are (now, after much cleaning) running smooth and silent
When you turn it on, the front 7-segment display flickers for a variable time, usually like 1 minute but sometimes nothing or 3 minutes... Then turn on solid (but still some...

Wine and Beverage Cooler Control Board Repair Attempt
            by KYBOSH
Trying to a fancy Wine and Can Beverage Cooler which wasnt working.
            Model number AWBC242GGFD
Previous owner states that it needs a new motor.

When plugged up you hear a quick chime from the PCB alarm but it quickly dies away (trails off actually) and there is no sign of life from the unit at all.
I pulled out the main control board to give a look.

Fuses checked out okay. All diodes except one checked out. It was reading in both directions so I pulled it out of circuit and checked it again but this time it read good.

Cooler Master ATC-S + Some other CoolerMaster Case - 2-fer in 1 Thread
            by Topcat
This is a Coolermaster case double-header.... The reason this one didn't get added to my 'misc build' thread is becasue the Cooler Master ATC-S aluminum case....That case is a class-act way above & beyond anything in that thread! However, we have to get through a mediocre build to get to the treasure!

...but here's the two Cooler Master cases in question; both of which were drop-offs for recycling.... The one on the left, I'm not really sure what model it is. It's nothing overly special, but it is well-made. The one on the right is an ATC-S solid aluminum, best I can determine...
