Re: Dimension 4550
Please provide some info on those capacitors such as their brand, series (usually a 2- or 3-letter name), capacitance (in uF), and working voltage (v). This info should be printed on each capacitor. Also note their physical dimensions (in mm), particularly the diameter (most are 8mm, 10mm, or 12.5mm). If possible, also take some pictures. -

Re: Dimension 4550
Well if you can get just the info on the caps, that should be enough to help you find proper replacements.
Also, are you trying to upload the pics on badcaps.net? If so, it should be fairly easy: just click on "Manage Attachments" below your post, click "Browse..." for each picture you wish to upload, then click "Upload" once you're done selecting all of the pics. Hope this helps.Comment

Re: Dimension 4550
and dont forget that there is a size limit too. I believe that the max picture size per picture is 2000 by 2000 pixels if i remember right. I believe the size limit is something like 1 meg per picture too but not exactly sure about that one.Comment

Howdy folks,
I've risen from the grave to ask more questions about old obsolete Dells.
I've acquired a Dell Dimension 4550 which is in need of a PSU - I've several PSUs from Dell Dimension B110s, and I'm wondering if one of them could be used. The PSUs and the 4550 use a 20-pin connector and a 4-pin connector.
The issue is, I've been told that Dell really likes using proprietary hardware, and there were concerns about damage being caused by an incompatible supply. Because of this I'm assuming it's not just a simple plug-and-play and that there's more... -

by CornboatsDecided to change broken flourescent ring with an led alternative bought off Ebay. It came without any details of required supply. The supplier
does not have this information, just that its been stored in warehouse for 10 years. I want as bright a light as possible but am concerned that at too high a voltage will burn out the led's.
There are 90 led's each with a small yellow spot in the centre of the inside of each led lens. Could these be mains tolerant led's. I've put 9-14v DC on the circuit and lamps glow but not to their full luminance. How much voltage can I apply without fear... -
by kahlil88Had some difficulty removing the caps off my Dimension 8300 board. My cheap soldering iron just couldn't seem to melt the solder so I flipped over the board and used hot air. They all popped out fine but halfway thru wicking up the remaining solder, I noticed several tiny resistors near the CPU had been bumped out of place!
