Re: Antec BP500U Bad Caps
Well my first psu recap was unsuccessful. I plugged it in to a known good pc and got no power out of it. This leads me to the 400v 330uf possibly could be bad or theres something else thats wrong with it. I have triple checked my solder joints and looks good.

Antec BP500U Bad Caps
I am recapping a power supply that quit turning on. I went and opened it up and it has 3 bad caps, 2 blown and 1 swelled. They are capxon. I have some extra caps laying around so i'm going to try to recap it. The 6.3v 2200uf i am replacing is a little shorter then the one that was in the psu. Will it still work long as it matches the volts and the uf?

dclcd dcl9c monitor
I'm working on a dclcd model dcl9c. Anyways it wouldnt turn on, it acted like it was in standby mode so i decided to take it apart and sure enough on the power supply there was 5 bulged caps. My question is what would be a good replacement brand for a samxon 470uf 25v that can take the heat of the display so this dont happen again.

Re: compaq laptop
Thanks for the reply. I just took a heatgun to the gpu chip and let it cool for 30 minutes. Also i used the copper penny trick that everyone talked about on compaqs and hp laptops and it seems the problem is gone. I left it one for 30 minutes and the screen didnt flash or all those other things when a gpu gets hot.

Re: compaq laptop
Thanks for the reply, the black lights are working. when i tap on the left hand of the keyboard the screen flickers with a picture :note: the gpu is under the spot that i tap on. i rechecked all the connections and they are tight.Last edited by superdoyle; 01-10-2012, 04:47 PM.

compaq laptop
I am working on a compaq cq61-429 for a friend and the problem is after about 30 seconds to a minute the screen goes blank. I done a complete tear down and cleaned it and the problem still persists. I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

High Temps?
Been a while since i last posted. Got a new gigabyte ga-ma78lm-s2 and put it all together. After i installed speedfan it shows temp3 at 68c. So i went and got hwmonitor and it shows the same thing. Any idea what this could be. Onboard gpu?

Re: Bad cap on nforce3-a
Thank you for the quick reply.
Looks like more work then i want to do, My whole board is OST with the exception of 3 by my heatsink that is black and gold don't know what brand they are without pulling the board out of the case. Also everything is new in the case except the motherboard.
Yes i did replace with a known bad seriesi should smack myself for that.
About the power supply i really don't want to open it cause it would void the warranty as its only under a week old.

Re: Bad cap on nforce3-a
Thanks for the reply. I got the motherboard from my brother after it it started freezing on start up. I replaced the cap OST 6.3v 1000uf also same height and width that i took out of a old motherboard that i don't use anymore. It's been up and running strong for the past 2 days strait. I looked at the rest of the caps on the motherboard and there no sign of leaking or bulging so is it safe to assume it might be ok now?Last edited by superdoyle; 03-18-2009, 12:56 AM.

Bad cap on nforce3-a
Hello i'm new here, I was wondering if a bad cap could cause the motherboad not to post. Its sometimes posts and other times it acts like a dead board. i can remove the ram sticks and i get beeps. I located a bulged cap next to my northbridge. The cap is a 6.3v 1000uf OST. My question is would it be hard to solder in a new cap?
