    Gigabyte GA-8IPE1000 Pro G

I recently replaced a customer's motherboard that had (only one) blown capacitor. The motherboard was a Gigabyte GA-8IPE1000 Pro-G. It seems however that her power supply (Powmax ~ surprise surprise) caught on fire and that may have done it in. Anyway I'm posting here because not only do I have a couple of these boards myself, but also I'm responsible for a whole bunch of other computers with this board. There seems to be no other capacitor problems on any of the boards I have inspected so far. (I went through 13 so far. All boards were manufactured in 2004.)

Does anyone have a clue if these mobos are affected by the bad capacitor manufacture? Thanks in advance.

    I should be sleeping but...
Here are more details about the capacitors in question..
Unfortunately I don't have time soon to take any of these things apart as they are servers and the like.

It might help more if you told us WHAT the lattering was, not just that it existed.

Haha Sorry. Just in a rush to get out on my long awaited vacation. I'll be sure to have pictures up soon. It's worth a thousand words.

From top, sounds like sanyo, rubycon MBZ, nichicon to me and those are all good brands. I'd assume the psu killed the caps. How old is this board?
          The great capacitor showdown!

Thanks for the reply. That sounds reassuring. The board was 1.5 years old at the most. I'm pretty sure the PSU killed it.

GIGABYTE GA-H110M-S2 - Stuck at Debug Code C2 - don't like Patriot Viper Steel RAM but works with G.SKILL
              by DynaxSC
              Hi,

I discovered a strange behaviour of GIGABYTE GA-H110M-S2 board.

              General test conditions:
              - Tested with Core i5 6500 and Core I7 6700K - no difference
              - Default BIOS settings, but tried also altering several memory setting - does not change anything

              What is wrong:

With BIOS F1 and F2 the board normally POST's and boots to Windows 11 with 2 x Patriot Viper Steel PVS416G440C9K RAM (4400MHZ, Samsung B-Die chips)

When BIOS upgraded to anything above F2 (ie. F20-F27b) the board POST stucks after 3 Debug Codes on Code C2

              A Dead/DOA Gigabyte GP-P450b 450W ATX PSU
              by momaka
More eBay specials: this time a Gigabyte GP-P450b 450W ATX PSU for $8 with free S&H. Listed “For part/not working”, as usual. Showed up in a beat up EVGA box without any padding… but that's understandable given the total price. PSU made it out fine without damage. It's a non-modular (yay!), pretty modern-day looking PSU with a black paint and all black cables (meh, not my favorite, but figure it's good to keep a few of these in case I do need one for a more modern PC build, just so my old gray boxes don't look too odd in there.)

And a shot of the label:...
