Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe

Got this mobo from fleabay

It appears to be in vgc.

However, when I power on the mobo, the systems starts up and
after a short period the system powers down - about 3-5 secs.

I looked at the I/O panel to the rear.
It appears looking at the manual, the optical connector is missing.
Where it formerly was, is just the remnants of two pins connecting
it to the mobo.

I should have caught this at the time but only recently, have I got
round to testing it.

I suspect the mobo is shutting down as a result of this.

Q - do any forum members have a connector such as this which they
might salvage from a dead board?

I doubt the optical connector can cause the mobo to shut down.

Can you go into the BIOS setup? If not, then you have bigger issue to deal with.

Many Asus boards have a check for fan speed, if they dont sense it or its to low they will shut down. So check that the fan youre using for the cpu is giving a enough rpm value. One way to do it is simply to hook another fan to the cpu header that have more speed and power the actual cpufan from one of the case fan headers instead.
