asus p4b with bad nichicons!

got a p4b in with the 4 1000@16 near the vrm's burst.
i will take good pics in the morning before i repair.
bad batch? counterfiets?
first time i have seen this.
and i recap a LOT of boards!

are those quite short fat yellow ones? i have several 3 Asus CUSL2-M boards from ebay and they all have rubycon/sanyo and one nichicon. On one of the boards, the nichicon cap looked to be slightly pushed up at the vents but I did not worry cos it was nichicon. i will get a pic and more info tomorrow. board is stable otherwise. perhaps the same batch but who knows.

what about excessive heat, overclocking....

they are 1200@16
black with the normal nichicon print.
the hsf was bad too and the board was dirty so cant rule out long term overheating.worst of all this board is owned by a pc tech at the store who should know better than to let a box get clogged up with dust.
i saved the caps and will post pics.

I saw a Gigabyte KT600 board today with 5 blown 3300uf Nichicon's, and 1 1000uf Nichicon. board was not very dirty, but the heatsink was completely clogged full of dirt and cigarette tar. It also had 2 1500 uf Sanyo's that looked fine.
