Asus P5Q Pro - All USB ports & onboard audio not functioning

Hello, I have an Asus P5Q Pro motherboard that might have had it's USB ports and audio damaged by a 4G wireless modem that was connected to an external aerial. I noticed the external aerial had some AC voltage to earth. The modem got damaged at the same time that the USB ports and audio got damaged. Could this have blown some kind of small fuse(s) on my motherboard, and does anybody think this kind of thing can be repaired?

When I use the PS/2 port with a keyboard attached to load up Windows all the USB devices in the device manager are functioning, sometimes the audio in the device manager is there and seems functioning and sometimes not there. Nothing detects on any of the USB ports on the backplate side and either on any of the USB headers, no Audio plays out of any of the stereo ports when the driver is functioning in device manager.

    Kind thanks.

The Asus P5Q Pro has 7 fuses in total for the USB-ports.
Although they can easily be replaced I cannot imagine all 7 were blown.
If you have a multimeter you can check if the fuses are still o.k. It´s the small white components near the USB connectors with "P" and "160" written on them (at least on my pics).

Since Realtek audio is also affected, there might be a more general problem. I have seen boards that had been exposed to higher voltages with burned conducting tracks.

I have the ASUS P5QC in my main system and I love it, robust, stable, perfect.

My advice in your case is to reset the BIOS settings so any disabled hardware due BIOS to become active again.

About the USB ports, get a multimeter and check for voltages, do not come and posting speculations with out making your homework first.

And also do you own any special soldering tools so to perform an SMT repair ?

I wouldn't be surprised if it's the chipset. ASUS are known for cheaping out on their ESD/EMI filtering components, which often results in damage to the chipset.
I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards
