Re: Microlab Solo 9C active Speakers audio cutting out when volume high
Oh okay, had a vague idea what it was but now I know, thanks for explaining!
Hmm, my soldering skills are probably not up to par as with you guys and people with the more expensive temperature control type soldering irons but I have a few different basic electrical soldering irons and also a butane type soldering iron. I also have solder sucker and do have some separate flux. Would I have to completely remove the solder or could I just paste some flux over the original soldered...

Re: Microlab Solo 9C active Speakers audio cutting out when volume high
Hmm, where do I take the resistance reading from? I have a multimeter but have no idea where I should place the terminals, mind you the Volume/bass/treble controls are all digital. I don't have an oscilloscope, nor do I have access to one but wish I did have one. I did have access to one many many years ago when I learned basic circuit theories at TAFE but didn't follow through into that career....

Re: Microlab Solo 9C active Speakers audio cutting out when volume high
Same things happens regardless, I tried one channel at a time connected to the RCA inputs, turning up the bass makes it happen more often at the same volume level, happens a little less when turning down the bass. What does this point to?...

Re: Microlab Solo 9C active Speakers audio cutting out when volume high
Okay here are some pictures. One of the two big 6800uF 35V caps seems to be buldging out on the top a tiny amount but the photo doesn't show that even though I tried a side on view. I took off the heatsink of what I think is the amp section? Looks all integrated....

Re: Microlab Solo 9C active Speakers audio cutting out when volume high
Okay so I opened it up and connected the internal speaker wiring that goes from the crossover to the speakers to the outside banana/screw sockets that would normally send audio to the left speaker and turned it into a passive speaker as a test. I connected an external amp and both speakers are fine, no audio cutting out at all. So at least the drivers and crossover circuits have no issues. The problem lies somewhere else, possibly amp? or power supply?
Going to post some photos but it's difficult...

Microlab Solo 9C active Speakers audio cutting out when volume high
Hi Guys,
At the moment just want some advice on what might be the problem without opening up and exposing the internals of these speakers. Just today they started failing for me, they're almost 3 years old in around 4 months from today.
Whenever I turn up the volume the audio starts cutting out, especially on the sound of the beats happening. They're an all in one speaker set with and inbuilt amp in the right speaker. I've tried different inputs and different sources both analog and digital, they're all the same. The same audio that plays on the TV is okay and doesn't...

Re: Dell P2212Hb - Black Display pattern
Volatge for AVDD1 to ground = 12.76V
I looked a little close and it looks like the flux left over from when they would've soldered the white header that connects to the usb ports on the side panel. I scraped some off with my fingernail as you can see in the close up photo that I've attached, and there doesn't seem to be any damage underneath, so no burn mark.
I'll look for some capacitor replacements in the meantime, thanks for that momaka....Last edited by funkster; 05-30-2016, 12:59 AM.

Re: Dell P2212Hb - Black Display pattern
Sorry for taking so long but I finally got to testing those 2 voltage points. It's 28V for VGH1 and -10.21V for VGL1. Also these voltages were measured without any video output from a computer so the LCD might have been in standby mode while measuring. I don't know if that would make a difference.
I've photos from behind that board this time too....Last edited by funkster; 05-27-2016, 11:20 PM. Reason: Couldn't edit first post to reupload pictures as wanted so uploaded all here.

Dell P2212Hb - Black Display pattern
Hello,
I have a faulty Dell P2212Hb. It powers on fine with a constant blue light but it displays a weird mostly black pattern, and when I connect it to the computer it just displays black with what looks like backlight bleed around the edges. I've opened it up and taken some pictures of the 2 main boards and board that connects to the LCD. Does anyone have any idea what could be the issue?...

Asus P5Q Pro - All USB ports & onboard audio not functioning
Hello, I have an Asus P5Q Pro motherboard that might have had it's USB ports and audio damaged by a 4G wireless modem that was connected to an external aerial. I noticed the external aerial had some AC voltage to earth. The modem got damaged at the same time that the USB ports and audio got damaged. Could this have blown some kind of small fuse(s) on my motherboard, and does anybody think this kind of thing can be repaired?
When I use the PS/2 port with a keyboard attached to load up Windows all the USB devices in the device manager are functioning, sometimes the audio in the device...

Re: Dell 2407WFPb backlight work, LCD doesn't
Unfortunately I couldn't fix the tab bond, it's beyond repair. I tried many times different thicknesses of tape and it always failed and to the point of me not even being able getting the tab bond working even by holding it down with my finger. Oh well I'll keep this monitor for spare parts as my brother has the same monitor. Thanks for your help selldoor.

Re: Dell 2407WFPb backlight work, LCD doesn't
I found what is causing the horizontal banding issue, it's the middle tab bond, when I press it down it fixes the issue. Perhaps if I put some tape on top and place the metal case it will hold it down. The 1 pixel line remains though.

Re: Dell 2407WFPb backlight work, LCD doesn't
When i touch the probes together my meter reads 1 ohm, I desoldered the fuse and it's the same 79 ohms.
edit: I tried a temp fuse and it worked. Though the picture is having more issues than before, there is a large horiztonal band across the middle, it splits the picture like it draws what is meant to be the next row, but moves it down if you get what I mean, and the bottom part is not displayed and cut off. The original 1 pixel line on the left remains as it first was. I have uploaded a photo....Last edited by funkster; 11-17-2012, 05:37 AM.

Re: Dell 2407WFPb backlight work, LCD doesn't
Hmm, I just checked the fuse. It shows roughly 79 ohms on my multimeter. Thanks for helping by the way.
