    Gigabyte 8IRXP start itself!!!!

    Hi mates

My computer with a P4 1.6Ghz and GA 8IRXP mainboard suddenly died. When I plug the power cord in, it starts itself.

I removed all the expansion card, ram, even CPU, the mainboard keeps start itself again everytime i plug it into main. But it not boot, here's the symtoms:

    1. Power on every time plug power on.
    2. Not boot, no POST, no beeep, no video, justpower on.
    3. All the power rails are ok, measured by VOM multimeter
    4. VCore OK, 1.5 volt, measured at the VSEN of Intersil HIP 6302 VRM controller.
    5. CPU not warmer when power on
    7. When i remove the CPU, VCore no longer available, return to 0 Volt (Is it normal?)
    8. It's a dual bios board, so dead bios is rare
    9. All caps are visually checked OK, but i haven't replaced. Measured caps onboard, there's no short circuit, but dont know if caps are leaked

    What i have done:
    1. Replace the CPU
    2. Replace PSU
    3. Replace RAM
    4. Remove and repalce everything else
    5. Clear CMOS 1001 times

    Still no lucks.

Please advise me what to do next, should i re-caps all or should i do some more check? I really dont know what to check next.

And the 2 bios chips are soldered, too bad!

Many boards do have an option to restart automatically after a power outage - when the mains is re-applied, the system starts up without you having to press the Power button.

Does it power off if you press and hold the Power button on the front? Check if the Reset switch (if applicable) is jammed in or connected the wrong way round. Also try a different video card - many boards refuse to boot if no video card is inserted, and the video card itself may be dead.

What make are the caps? Some brands such as Teapo tend to fail without any physical signs - to be sure you'd need to desolder the caps and check with an ESR meter.
You know there's something wrong when you open your PC and it has vented Rubycons...

No, the power switch has no effect. I've tripped everything out, even the CPU was detached. It's just the mainboard only and it power on itself, even without the CPU.

As I said, I've changed the whole system and it's the mainboard fault, 99.99% definitely.

      I think i should re-cap it.

But i want to listen to your advise before i do that.

Does the CPU, chipset and clock generator chip get warm? If not, then it might be a bad crystal.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
          by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

          Assuming...

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
          by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

Sony 55X900E no standby light, no power. Replaced mainboard already

          No standby red light, nothing
This Sony has a separate AC->DC power adapter supplying 19.5V to the TV power board (JK3)

Disconnected JK3 power board from main board, checked voltages on all the pin outs

At a few pins I can see the power supply providing 19.5V to the main board

Based on the service manual triage.. it seems to be pointing towards the power board (JK3) being the most possible culprit

un60j620dafxza - Samsung No Display Problem
          by stylishconsultant
          Hi All,

          Need help.

I have a samsung un60j620dafxza led tv. When I plug it in it has no display, no sounds, and no standby lights.

So I opened the tv and disconnected the power to the mainboard and the backlight powered up. This according to many people says that this is a mainboard
problem. I checked the voltage coming from the stb and I read 1.3 volts on pins 1,3,5 and 7 which are low volts instead of 13 volts which i think the lcd panel
might be drawing too much power from the power supply that it prevents the right voltage going to the mainboard....
