    Asus AT3GC-I Recap success story

I got an asus AT3GC-I atom board which I uses as a firewall. Yesterday, when it was scheduled for a fan swap I've discovered the bloated caps.

The bad caps are Toshin Kogyo(TK) 105^C.
Odd thing is that the bad caps are filter caps for the 5v rail on all the USB ports which are not used. Looks like heat from adjacent components finally gotten to it.
The board runs perfectly fine as the vcore n vmem caps are poly caps which are not affected. But I've decided it wont be good for the long run.

Placed an order at element14 and went to pick up the caps at their trade counter in the afternoon.
    Went for panny FR series.

Too bad they dont look as nice as the FC or FM series but they're cheaper and have longer rated life.

2hrs of elbow grease and job well done. Not too bad for a xmas eve activity.
PS board is still under warranty but sending back for RMA will risk of another deja vu episode and wasted alot of waiting time.

Assistance with identifying replacement caps on ASUS P5VDZ-MX
        by crosswinds
        Hello,

So, pulled a motherboard out from storage, was working when put away, wont post when I took it out of storage today.
Since it was working, and it looks to be essentially time that killed it I figured its a good idea to replace the caps before digging further.
Looks to be only good quality caps on this board, so might not be the issue. But it is closing in on 20 years now so, wont hurt i guess

        Its a ASUS P5VDZ-MX board.

I would really appreciate some assistance on what the best replacement caps would be for these:

ASUS TUF X570-PLUS doesn't power on: no VRM_EN signal.
        by ShadowAi
Hello, I have an issue with the motherboard. Specifically, it doesn't power on, more precisely, the POST initialization doesn't occur.

Let me start from the beginning, the motherboard suddenly stopped working one day. There are no beep signals from the speaker, and the debug LEDs are not lighting up. After inspecting it under a microscope and using thermal imaging, I didn't find anything that could be damaged.

After that, I began voltage measurements, in which I noticed the absence of VDDQ, VDDP, VTT, and VPP lines. Later, I checked if there is an EN state on these lines,...

[TUTORIAL] fix asus bios with bios from asus web support (by razor_amd)
        by razor_amd
With ASUS, not everything is quite so simple. I will show you my way. It may be longer or harder but it is the right way to do it in my humble opinion.

For example, you can have 3 similar ASUS motherboards, all being the same model, all of which will have different BIOS versions.

I will give you an example and my version of preparing BIOS from ASUS website and in the process I am always cleaning Intel ME while doing it so you have fully cleaned BIOS, no DMI data, no password, nothing.

This is the picture of 3 similar ASUS motherboards, all of them being X555LD...

Asus laptop won't boot (no power) - possible bad caps?
        by jrodefeld
I would like to see if anyone could help me salvage a very expensive laptop that is no longer working.

        The model:
        Asus Zenbook Pro Duo UX582L

I have used this laptop lightly since I purchased it new in 2022. I have always taken precautions to take care of it the best I could, and have never done anything that would risk causing damage to it or shorten it's life.

However, around six months ago, the laptop stopped working on battery power. It continued to work fine when plugged in, but as soon as power was disconnected,...

        ASUS P5GC-MX motherboard recap
        by momaka
Here’s another motherboard that needed a full recap: an ASUS P5GC-MX.
This one was gifted to me some years ago by user Pentium 4, along with a few other goodies. It actually came in working order with no bulging or leaking caps. However, I noted there were United Chemicon KZG caps everywhere on the motherboard. The CPU VRM output (CPU V_core) was the only exception: it had only 2x KZG. The rest was 6x UCC TMV 4V 680 uF caps… which aren’t any good news either.

So here is what the motherboard looked like with its original caps:
