I got this motherboard from a friend.
Long story short he wanted a new computer, so I built it from spare parts. I didn't test the computer afterwards because I didn't have a monitor. It wouldn't POST or show any video when he got it. This was a few weeks ago.
I got the computer back and I notice two bulging L-Tec 820uF 6.3V caps (series unknown.) One is next to the northbridge and another next to the ATX power connector. The northbridge one has me worried - is this likely to be the cause of the no POST / no video?
However, that being said - the CPU VRM caps are fine (even thought they are L-tec - ugh) and there are three 1000uF 16V Rubycons next to the CPU caps, presumably filtering the 12V line… Honestly it would have been better the other way around, having the Rubycons next to the CPU... but I digress.
Is it worth repairing? I'm just going to give him another known working motherboard. Maybe keep this one as a spare but it's ancient: still uses AGP and I don't know what processor is installed but it has no south bridge, which is odd, as I thought that was a feature of newer chipsets only. 6 SATA (4 supporting RAID) is nice, but probably unnecessary for me.
