Re: need a lil advice on recapping ECS HP MCP61PM-HM

    OST are all RLS
    TK's are ATWB for the 6.3v 1800uf & ATWY for th 16v 1800uf
G-lux are SM (approx 8mm x 13mm) all same size.

How would I test to see if the Vcore is in parellel

Just upgrade the Vcore to poly. (Would it be worth it to do the whole board?)

I do not know if #3 is in Vcore or not.

I did get a reply from C_hegg on what he used on his board.

    NHN 1800@6.3 8 x 20Nichicon 1800uf 6.3v 8mm HN series
    NHZ 1800@16 10 x 25 Nichicon 1800uf 16v 10mm HZ series
    NHM 1000@6.3 8x11 1000uF 6.3v 8mm HM series
    NHN 470@16 8x13 470uF 16v 8mm HN series
    United Chemi-Con 820uF 2.5v 8mm Polymer Capacitor

      Resistance checks.
[If] + is connected to + [and] - is connected to - [then] they are in parallel.
      -
That Vcore row are all in parallel.
What I need to know if is #3 is in parallel with them.

Need to know where you want to buy from so I can see what they have in stock.
I recommend Badcaps.net or Mouser.com for this set of caps unless you want to buy from multiple places.

I'll be back a bit later.
Need to do some family stuff.

I do not think the cap in group #3 is in the Vcore here is exactly what Hegg said
For the 16v 1800uF Caps (there are 3 of them), use these
For the row of 7 caps next to the CPU (a mix of polys and electrolytics), use these (it is a tight squeeze getting them in as their legs are slightly thicker, but they do work)
For the other 1800uF 6.3v caps (I think there are 4 or 5), use these
For all the 1000uF 6.3v caps, use these
for all the 470uF 16v caps, use these

G-Luxon SM are GP caps. Replacing them with HN is -extreme- over-kill.
If you like that idea then use his list.
It's over-kill but obviously will at least work on that board so go for it.

PCBONEZ I just want to get it right and do the job correctly. I do not know how to test the cap in #3 to see if it is in parallel. I do know why u ask the questions you do, to get the job correct so there are no problems down the road.

Got the caps but using a 25 watt iron is not enough to get the caps out without a struggle, so what is a good wattage iron to use? 40, 60?

Hey guys, I just picked up an old Athlon motherboard (Chaintech 7AJA2) to build a vintage PC system around and noticed it had a leaking cap and a few others that appear to be bulging

It does boot up fine though, just finished installing Windows XP and it ran through a few 3dfx demos successfully (using a Voodoo3 3000 AGP card) but it does seem to have issues when I have more than one stick of RAM installed, should I also change out the little squat capacitors that are around the DIMM slots even though they appear fine?

Recapping Sony ICF-SW55 - verifying cap values
                                    by proxneo
                                    Dear reader

I am performing a repair on a Sony ICF-SW55, which includes recapping (some) of the SMD capacitors on the mainboard. I am looking for verification of their values. At the moment, I'm 95% sure I've got the right values, but it is hard to find some official, credible or multiple independant sources on this.

At the moment, I have selected replacements based on the following list of values:

                                    3 x 470uF 10VDC
                                    3 x 4.7uF 35VDC
                                    4 x 47uF 50VDC
                                    8 x 22uF 6.3 VDC
                                    1 x 220uF 6.3VDC
                                    5 x 100uF 6.3VDC

                                    Which...

CH341 programmer advice, including jumpers seemingly reversed

I’d appreciate some very basic advice on CH341x programmers. I know this topic comes up from time to time, but stuff changes, so I hope a refresh is in order. In particular, I see some unexpected things happening with jumper positions.

[My plan is to learn to read and write 24CO2 EEPROMs via I2C. The first target is the one in my Uni-T clamp meter, but before tackling that I have some brand-new EEPROMs to practice on.]

I have two basic Chinese programmers. One is the blue board with a CH341A and two rows of pin headers. To my untrained eye it looks like all the others....

                                    Need T-Con Advice (Vizio P602ui-B3)

                                    Hi all,

I made a big-ass mess here of my father's beloved P602, and I'm trying to figure out if I should order a batch of overpriced ribbons or if I'd just be throwing more good money at the bad.

He woke up recently to a bunch of white bars going down the right side of the screen. From what I'd seen in these places, I figured the T-con board has gone out or has a bad connection. I took the back off and gently poked at the socketed ribbons and sure enough, got the image back. It was mainly the far left ribbon, and it would snap back to stripes if I let off the pressure....

Advice on newer EC chip programming eg. MEC5107-LJ BGA
                                    by zlr8r
Hey all, was wanting to know what cheapest option is for programming EC chips such as the MEC5107-LJ

i searched online and found such programmers as the SVOD4, Vertyanov Successor , and the RT809h type but didn’t see this particular BGA EC chips listed? So hoping for some advice here , cheers.
