    Pegatron IPM87-MP

    Hi guys,

    Mainboard name: Memphis2-S (SSID 2B2C)
    Pegatron IPM87-MP REV 1.01
    Original BIOS 80.06 - 2015

    I made a mistake when updating the BIOS. I didn't backup the old BIOS, and I didn't run FLASH.BAT provided by HP, instead I only ran the latest (A0.17) bios EXE update, therefore the Intel ME firmware that's supposed to be updated if I had used the batch file was excluded.

    Now the board can't POST. With the current G3220 CPU in, if I cleared the CMOS, I will get a singing beep tones then nothing on screen. The board also tried to read my flash drive for some reason. I tried to do a BIOS recovery with it, but holding down win key+B or win key+V while pressing the power button for 1-3 seconds does nothing at all.

    I noticed the board has a 2x5 male header labeled ROM_RECOVERY. Using a multimeter, I was able to find out which pins correspond to the IC pins (see attached photo)

    Before I proceed, I just want to confirm with some of the experts here.

    Can I just flash the old 80.06 BIOS image file from HP website directly using a programmer, or do I need some kind of a clean BIOS image? If so, I will request in the appropriate thread.

    Any kind of help is appreciated.

      Oh nevermind, it fixed it by itself. Turns out all I needed to do was copy the old BIOS image file to the recovery flash drive folder New, and copy the problematic A0.17 BIOS image file to folder Current, and I didn't even have to press any key combinations. After the singing beep tones, it read the flash drive, reboot and the HP BIOS update screen appeared and did the update automatically.

      Everything is back to dandy now. Too bad, this means I can't install my Xeon E3 CPU ��

          LOL, I thought for sure it has gone back to the old BIOS, but apparently not, it recovered to version A0.17, but hey, aside from losing the product number, SKU, etc. from the system info, I can use my Xeon E3 again, so that's a win.

              I also have the same issue. I updated my BIOS and it did not boot after updating. How did u resolve this issue?

                  Hi, my laptop wont boot at all
                  With original bios no POST, only LED lights
                  With alternative BIOS from model TP500LN (flashed via programmer) the notebook works again
                  Some issues
                  A- with bios from 500LN, it won't update from bios of model 500LA (from 500LN v203 to 500LA v300)
                  B- If updated from 500LN version 203 to 300, the battery stops being recognized

                  Things I tried

                  Hello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.

                  I have a Lenovo Thinkbook 15 G2 ITL i5 Laptop (serial number: MP2BFZEF) that when I turn it on, the led on the power button lights up for 5 seconds, then goes out. There's no display and nothing happens.
                  So I thought it was a Bios problem.
                  I found 3 bios chips on the board, which I read with a bios programmer: two XMC model bios chips and a Winbond model bios chip. Each XMC model bios chip has two partitions named XM25QH128A [3.3V] and XT25F128A [3.3V]. And the Winbond model bios chip has three partitions named W25Q80BL 3.3V, W25Q80xV 3.3V and W25Q80DV 3.3V....
