HP Elitedesk 800 G5 LAN card dead

    Hi guys.
I purchased this mini desktop PC from a guy in uknown condition but noticed that network LAN card is not working.
I changed few LAN cables, neither of the led lights on the LAN ports is blinking.
The card model is recognized in device manager, and no exclamation marks or smth like that.
Is there a way to physically test the LAN card (and how) with multimeter?
I also tried Ubuntu live distro, no luck.

Is there maybe a way to physically test the chip for damage with multimeter?
I do see a device in device manager: "it says device is working properly" but it does not, none of the lights are ON when the LAN cable is plugged in.

Try adding the MAC with software. The MAC address will be on a sticker somewhere

It won`t help if its the problem that stj described. If its only a software issue, for example if someone flashed a new bios without copying the old GbE region then the software will help.

I obly know that when connecting lan cable that lights on lan connector should blink/light up which they don't, which means that lan card/chip is dead.
                Probably thunder screwed it up.

Maybe, or it might be because there`s no MAC address. Another way the MAC can go missing is in the bios,to fix that make a bios backup and add the MAC address to the GbE region with a hex editor.

                    There is MAC adress acttually.
Am I missing some hidden option to enable LAN in BIOS?
