    Windows login/file server

I know this is possible and i could figure it out if i tried but id rather have some insight first. My school and library both have fast PCs and Macs but the login servers and file servers they connect to run on a pentium 3 so logging in, accessing, and moving files is 90's slow. I have a dual quad-core 2.3 GHz no-name brand server that runs server 2003 and i want to be able to login to it and access files remotely at school and at the library. All computers have an option to switch login domain at login splash screen. Id have about 1-10 people accessing it.

    Specs:
    4 500GB HDDs
2x Xeon Quad Core 2.3 GHz
    16GB RAM
    Windows Server 2003 newest SP
My internet: 105MB/s down 40MB/s up COMCAST BRANDFORD
Schools internet: 60MB/s down 56MB/s up State of Connecticut
I have salvaged and fixed 18 TVs (1 DLP), 22 LCD monitors, 8 stereos, network stuff, and more laptops and computers than i can count.

You have to be admin on the computer then add it to the domain. I don't think you.can do it on the fly. But what exactly is your question?

Do you work at the school in the IT department or are you a student there?
If you're just a student there I would give up on your idea right now.

Yes if you're in the IT department you can achieve this easily, otherwise no.

            File server with PLEX?
            by Hondaman
            Hello,

Down through the years I have tried to have more convenient storage and backup. Recently, I have used a USB hard drive enclosure plugged into the back of my WRT-AC1200 router. But when I put photos on that drive, my local Win7 machine grinds to a halt. It takes a long time for thumbnail images to show up in Win7 File Manager, because I may have hundreds of photos in any directory I want to view. So I need to put the photos on my local Win7 machine. But I am running out of space.

Is the router giving the thumbnails from the USB drive enclosure to the Win7 machine...

Lenovo ThinkStation P520 BIOS file needed
            by Forest79
            Hello,

I got a Lenovo ThinkStation P520 (Type 30BF) from a friend, asking me for a repair. Windows 11 offered a firmware upgrade as an optional update, and it failed.
The emergency flash procedure from the hardware manual has also failed. So, I asked an acquaintance with better skills to flash the BIOS directly.

However, the chip (a Macronix MX25L25673GMI-08G) has a size of 32 MB, and the BIOS file from the Lenovo website (extracted with UEFITool) has a little more than 16 MB. Thus, the software my acquaintance used (SiberiaProg v1.45, with a CH341A Programmer)...

Troubleshooting of redundant F750E-S0 Dell PowerEdge Server
            by omega
            Hello all,
as a beginner electronics hobbyist, after a few years I would like to place another post on this Forum section, given that I did not succeed in finding any useful advice among the other posts.

Over the last years, I have been using a PowerEdge Dell Server with two redundant PSUs, namely the 750W F750E-S0 ones (aka 06W2PW). Unfortunately, last summer one of them failed (perhaps owing to an overheating), and the server had for working to take into account the other one only. Of course I opened and tried to troubleshoot the failed PSU, but each cap I tested seemed to...

            TV Model: Hitachi 40HYC42
            Power Supply: 17IPS71
            MainBoard: 17MB95M
            Panel: VES400UNDS-2D-NO3

When the set came in it was dead. Fuse was open primary side and the power mosfet was shorted. So I ordered a new power supply. Now it turns on, only displays "Hitachi" and then power off red and blue led flashing.

I had to modify the 0ohm resistors in the led backlight of the new PS like the original power supply.
Is there any variants on 17IPS71 power supply's?
