Wireless is apparently revolutionary but I'm finding it to be bullshit.
I had to disable the onboard wifi on my WRT54G and switch to an external TrendNET B/G/N access point (TEW-630APB) to stop the wireless from totally overwhelming and restarting the router and interrupting EVERYTHING on the network.
Now I'm at a point where my roommates no longer complain about their wireless being interrupted but keeping a connection on my XP laptops is IMPOSSIBLE.
It's been getting worse over time too. They all do the same thing and pop up the same message bubbles in succession:
"Connected to blahblah, no signal"
"Connected to blahblah (unsecured), excellent signal"
"Could not connect to preferred wireless location"
Then from there, everything disconnects or fails and I'm forced to manually reconnect.
All I can think of that might be similar between the computers is they all run some flavor of XP (be it pro or tablet 2005) and that they all have Intel Mini PCI 2915ABG wireless cards. These things seem to grow on trees.
It's frusting as god damn hell. Right now I'm typing from my toughbook which is plugged in because it could not hold a connection for more than a minute and my T30 is doing the same at the office because it kept dropping the connection and stalling the security camera manager.
