First post, Benq monitor power issue?

    Hi,

I wish I found this forum years ago! Good info and advice and had to self learn everything but could have saved hours and hours if I knew about this place!!

I have a quick question. I have a Benq FP71G+ monitor (Model Q7T4). With just the monitor connected to power and no vga cable connected I power it on by pressing the on/off button and the led lights for a second and goes out. You can repeat this process. There is nothing displayed on screen.

Thinking its a power issue, fuse or something but not opened it yet. Wondered if anyone had any idea / advice? Hoepfully it is as simple as a faulty button but doesnt look faulty or feel faulty?

    Thanks

Always is a good idea to post some pics (upside and downside) of PCB. In a meantime, do a visual inspection of board and components, check fuses with multimeter, put your eyes on caps especially, any traces of burned components and etc. That's for a start.

Hello and welcome to the forum! BenQ models are notorious for shorted 2sc5707 transistors. Also possibly shorted FU9024 and open fuse. Check these transistors for shorts. Complete repair kits can be purchased through Ebay for around $6.00. Do a search on ebay for 2sc5707. These transistors should be replaced in pairs.

In addition to all the above, you must resolder all the transformer pins otherwise you will be doing the same repair again in the future.

This Benq model and its variations all seem to have the same problems. At least the problem is well known by members here and there is lots of help and information.

As above but check with the computer feed in as well, as some won't do anything without this turned on. Goes into power saving mode eg. off.

If it obviously doesn't work, check the power transistors nearest the tube outputs as above, and look closely at their capacitors & solder joints.

Worth resoldering all the transformer pins as it only takes 2 mins to add a little and reflow.

This forum is great - has helped me a lot.

            Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

Acer Spin 1 SP111-33 Power-On Issue (Troubleshooting Assistance)
            by justice171
I am seeking guidance on an Acer Spin 1 SP111-33 that does not turn on when pressing the power button.

Below are the observations and troubleshooting steps I have taken so far: Observations and Tests:
            1. Verified that all critical voltages are present:
              • 3.3V and 5V are always present if DC is plugged.
              • 1.8V on the BIOS chip is present.
            2. Checked the power button functionality:
              • When pressed, the voltage drops to 0V, indicating the button is functional.
            3. Inspected the flex cable connecting the USB, audio, and power button to JUB1:
              • Confirmed connectivity is intact, ruling out issues

hi guys, my motherboard will not start no matter what
when connected to ac power, the battery does get charge, led indicator glows red when discharged and turns white as it is fully charged.
but rest nothing happens no sign of life.

this laptop has one preexisting usbc power issue - so i use DCIN jack for charging my laptop.
with this issue my laptop was unable to power ON only sometimes i just had to wait some time.
but now nothing happens no matter how much i wait/ charge/ press and hold power button.

i have no knowledge of motherboards ....

Replacing all the caps on the BenQ SW2700pt's power board didn't help...
            by Noodneek
My 3.5 years old monitor (BenQ SW2700pt) started to black out for 1-2 sec every minute or so, it was doing this even with PC disconnected from it. I searched online and read that it's probably aging capacitors and there's a workaround to lower the brightness.

I lowered it from 100 to 65% and it indeed helped, but after a couple of months the issue returned... I continued to lower the brightness, but it helped only for a couple of hours at most, then I needed to lower it further... Turning the monitor off and waiting for it to cool down also helped for a short time, after which it...

Sony SLV-E780 Power Supply Issue – Clicking Sound, Need Help Identifying Faulty Component
            by Akuanka
            Hi everyone,

I'm troubleshooting a power supply issue with a Sony SLV-E780 VCR. The device clicks repeatedly but doesn't power up completely. I've already replaced five capacitors, but the problem persists.

Here's a video link https://photos.app.goo.gl/3Xki6yvCLn67gLX78 showcasing the sound. Based on your experience, could this be due to a transformer, diode, or another component? Any guidance on what to test or replace next would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help!
