Re: Dell e171fpb monitor no power or LED lights
OK, don't know if this is of any help, but I checked for voltage across the IC601 and I'm getting 13.7vdc between pin-6 and all the other pins.
Just so you know I also check voltage on the Transformer (T601) and I'm reading 165vdc on all 4 pins on the bottom side and nothing on the upper side.
If you are able... see picture.

To get the best pictures, put your camera on macro mode and take the picture next to a window on a sunny day.Leave a comment:

Re: Dell e171fpb monitor no power or LED lights
You've made the most important test right there. If you've got 165 volts across the big cap the input fuse and bridge rectifier are good. By the way, be very careful around that cap. It will hold that charge for quite a while. While it probably won't be lethal, 165 volts can give you an attitude change.
Now you also indicted there was no power out of the output connectors. The logical place to look is the smps controller. It is the 8 pin IC in the lower right corner of the last picture. What is the part number?
I understand about cheap cameras. However, the help process is a lot like GIGO in computer programming. The better the information you give us, the better the help we can give you. At a very minimum retake the last picture in natural light without a flash. Glare is a killer - it always seems to be over the the area I am most interested in.

This board is made by BENQ and the part number is; BENQ ETL-XPC-801.
How should I test the SMPS CONTROLLER as you suggested, that one is labeled IC601.
I thank you both for your patience and help
Don't worry about me getting shocked, I am an industrial electrician by trade and I have had received several.Leave a comment:

Especially instructions that involve mains line voltage. And while the OP probably lives in Miami, Florida as the screen name suggests, I would hate to see anyone experince 240V * 1.4 if they should be from Europe.Leave a comment:

Re: Dell e171fpb monitor no power or LED lights
Sorry about the double post above, anyways...
I'm getting O.L while reading between all 4 pins of "BD601" which I assume is the Bridge R.
FYI there's a 100uf capacitor right behind it and it is putting out 165vdc.Leave a comment:

Re: Dell e171fpb monitor no power or LED lights
Thank you,
There's only one fuse, and is good, I've read 125v, 0.3ohms across it as you stated.
I' ll check the "rectifier"
The pictures... (sight) that's almost the best I can get out this cheap camera.
Thank you again...Last edited by miamiflorida; 08-11-2010, 11:43 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: Dell e171fpb monitor no power or LED lights
With power off and LCD unplugged.
1) Fuse. A good fuse should be 0.3 ohms.
2) Bridge rectifier. You can measure this in circuit to see if it is shorted. Number your pins 1 to 4 and measure the resistance between 1-2, 1-3, 1-4, 2-3, 2-4, and 3-4.
If these two test are okay, we can give more suggestions.
PS. Your pictures are a bit small and we can't make out all the details. You can post up to 2000x2000 resolution.Leave a comment:

Dell e171fpb monitor no power or LED lights
Hello Guys,
My Dell e171fpb after a brief power outage won't power up at all, none of the LED lights on the front will lid, power button will not turn it on at all.
I have opened the monitor, it looks like all of the A/C section of the PSU is fine, checked all the capacitors and they seems to be OK, no visible crack, burns or anything obvious.
Now i can't get any voltage out on either of the two connectors going out of the power supply board.
See the attached pictures.
Please any help is greatly appreciated, Thank you...Tags: None

by PantherDaveHi all!
I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅
I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

by Borse2008Hi everyone,
Looking for some advice or opinions on what to do with a monitor issue I’ve run into. Apologies in advance is this crossovers a few forum categories.
I have a Dell U3425WE, which I've recently replaced with another model. That said, the original unit is still fully functional in terms of the display — it works perfectly over HDMI and DisplayPort. However, the USB-C and Thunderbolt 4 ports have stopped functioning correctly. The Issue:- The 90W Thunderbolt 4 port (circled in the photo) no longer charges or powers any device, including laptops or MacBooks.

by Mark01Hi guys,
This is my first post! 🚀
I have no idea what I’m doing, but I’m learning by trial and error.
I’m currently working on a Dell Optiplex AIO 7490—one of a bunch of AIOs that mysteriously failed to POST just a few days after the warranty expired. The original issue was that the PC worked fine until it was rebooted, after which it got stuck on a black screen (no backlight), with fans spinning at normal speed and a solid white power LED. Forcing it off by holding the power button would just cause it to switch on automatically and get stuck again on...07-04-2025, 12:54 PM -
by seppdeHello everyone,
I've recently gotten my hands on a defective XPS13 9380. I will attach a zip of the schematics and boardview.
My first discovery on the Board was that the reverse current Diode PD103 of the 1st USB-C was blown.
Nothing to worry about, the board got 3 USB-C ports which support Power/Charging. On I go.
Next I inspected the power-rails to see why the diode blew up and found a short on the 3V3 rail which I traced back to the Power-IC for the LCD (UZ2). I desoldered it and the very low-ohmic short is gone. I checked on the LCD-connector that there's no short... -
by WVUfanhello. i've a ps5 edm-033 mobo w/ no power, lights, but one beep when power pressed. i've hooked to uArt and only error code is 80871001 (DDR4 No Power or Short Circuit). i have a donor board, same model, that does power up, fan spins, blue light, and beeps 3 times, then powers off. it has a botched HDMI port replacement job. so w/ the board i'm interested in, with the error 80871001, i was able to research and obtain voltages of the SSD PMIC. i've attached pictures of the provided diagram by DylanBBK (@d62 on Discord) and my voltages and picture of my board. my question is on my picture...
