LG L1715s with failed Samxon GF

Found monitor on my way home sitting on the pavement.

This monitor stopped working due to Samxon GF failing.

One of the caps even changed color to black from overheating. Notice that even the rubber bangs deformed from venting/overheating

It is just stupid to put caps right above secondary rectifiers and heatsink that get very hot during monitor operation.

Those 17" monitors can be found in working condition for less than 10 euros or even for free!

So, I recapped it using terrible caps and tried to install extra caps on pcb in non populated empty cap spaces.

Monitor works, is VGA input only and will be donated.

Hey, terrible caps or not, that's still way better than where this monitor was headed for. At least now it gets an extended lease on its life, even if only for a little while until the replacement caps go bad... or will they? At this age, maybe the CCFLs would go bad first. Or for all we know, this will still work 10 years from now, given that you did seem to install slightly bigger capacity caps.
I'm also curious how the two CS-logo caps will do. I find this brand to be really crap... but maybe these being 16V may help them a little. The lower voltage -rated CS caps break down in storage with high leakage / foil dissolving.

HannStar Hanns-G HC194d LCD monitor repair
      by momaka
Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

Replacement caps for Samson Resolv studio monitor 65A Amp board.
      by black6host
      Good day!

I have a Samson Resolv studio monitor that has no sound output. I've opened it up and found two caps that are bulging on what I believe to be the power supply section of the amplifier board. The board is marked Resolv 65A AMP V1.2. The caps in question are YUSCON, 2200uF, 35V, 85C temp and have markings of RA(P) and are 16mm x 25.5mm tall. I've attached the schematic and the caps in question are C5 and C6. I'm assuming they are low esr caps. I've tested both caps and they test low uF, nowhere near 2200uF.

I'm going to replace the caps and I'll be the first...

KZG caps failed on a NOS motherboard - never been used...
      by Lostdotfish
This is a new one on me. I picked up a new old stock DFI 865PE Infinity board recently. It's completely new, never used. While inspecting it I noticed some unexpected bulging caps...

All of the 6.3v 1500uf caps had failed in place, despite the board never seeing use and being stored sensibly. I pulled the 16v caps that are the same series as a precaution and will replace them all.

Seasonic B12 BC-550 – barely 2 years old and with BAD CAPS already!
      by momaka
I know I've been a little scarce lately (like the last 2-3 years), but I'm still here and still doing my thing with fixing PSUs.

For today's considerations, I have a Seasonic B12 BC-550 [A551bcafh] 550 Watt ATX power supply for you (click on links for full size images).

It's a modern ATX unit with fixed (non-modular) cables and an 80-plus bronze certificate. Here's the label:

      Heathkit IO-4205 Power Supply Caps
      by eryjus
      Hello,

First, I am a complete noob with high voltage stuff. I'm learning, but I need help by someone looking over my shoulder.

I recently came into posession of a Heathkit IO-4205 5MHz Dual Trace Oscilloscope. The documentation is copyright 1978. I'm told it works.

I opened it up to check the caps before I applied power, and found the following black caps and wanted to know what they were. They are on the power supply board. I was able to read the name and model and came up with, "Nytronics 162J-1, 0.1uF, 20% tolerance, 2000VDC."
