    Are Viewsonics Worth Fixing?

Hi from a newbie. This is a great site and I hope to stay for a long time. Sam

I just found a Viewsonic VA1912WB monitor on a trashpile with the problem of shuting off at 2-4 secs led power goes from green to orange (stand by) also, while it was working before shutdown, I noticed white horizontal lines spaced about 1" apart that floated upwards. I pulled it apart yesterday and it had two bulging caps specifically the 220uf's. The rest seemed ok and all other components looked ok.

My main concern is that I see an awefull lot of Viewsonic problems being talked about here. Would I be foolish to spend money on caps and my time to fix it just so some other cheap part become the next headache?

I have an old Dell LCD 17" from the year 2000 which I also found that is built like a tank and still going strong. It has two characteristics that you just don't see anymore (at least what I've seen) Outboard power supplies and the back panel has many holes in it for ventilation (something todays monitors don't have)

The questions are "How much is your time worth?" and "How much is the repaired monitor worth?" Unless you want to cut and run like Sarah Palin , don't do a half-assed job. If you are in the US you can get the complete set of caps from Digikey for about $10 delivered. Putting it up on Craigslist for $75 and letting the buyer beat you down to $60 gives you $50 clear profit. If you don't mind my saying so, if you're digging in trashpiles, you probably don't get lawyer rates for your time. Just like me, you might appreciate an extra $50 rattling around in your wallet. Or an extra 2 inches on your desktop.

I do live in the US and I fix n flip most of the time. I have many satisfied customers. Most of the time I donate to friends or Salvation Army and do it mostly to save the landfills from toxic materials and clutter. Mainly use a bicycle to do my rounds so I'm not wasting gas.

I have a lot of Panasonic, Nippon, Nichicon among other caps in my stash all low ESR high temp so thier perfect for PS's.

For this situation I will most likely use it for myself. I'm starting to see many more LCD monitors in the trashpiles. The last one I found was a Gateway that stayed dark when the power button was pressed. That one went to Salvation Army.

I shudder every time I think of an LCD monitor going to the landfill. Of those I've fixed, the majority had bad caps, shorted transistors (caused by bad solder joints), or similar problems.

A two year old Gateway, Viewsonic, or other monitor built with Elite, Capxon, or equivalent caps could easily last another 5 years with name brand caps. The sad thing, it would be very marginal repairing them if I were depending on it for my living.

Fixing an I-Inc IF281D for the 3rd time, now with added flickering!
            by DrvLikHell
Hello everybody! It's been nine years and I'm back again with the same monitor that several people here helped me fix back then. The first time, I replaced two caps as was recommended here and the original problem was solved. Then it started acting up a few years later and I came back for a parts list and replaced a few more caps (I didn't make a post about that and don't remember which ones), and again the problem was solved. This time, however, I'm not sure if it's caps.

The monitor stays on but certain colors will flicker. Generally it's darker colors like dark greys or dark blues,...

IPAD to a monitor how easy is it to do and is it worth the time to try to accomplish this endeavor
            by sam_sam_sam
I have wondered about this a couple of times I know that on the older version of the iPad you could buy a cable and supposedly achieve this but I could not figure out how to get it working reliably

Is there anyone out there who has experience doing something like this would like some feedback about this topic

Gaming Laptop Zephyrus S17 TFT not detected every time !
            by titomno2
            Hi guys,
I post my problem here because I think it could be a capacitor related issue (Asus support on this particular subject is non-existing).
So the computer is a Zephyrus-S17-GX735LXS-26T and the strange behavior is seen.
On cold start most of the time the internal screen is detected and a picture it works fine until shutdown, sleep or deep sleep.
Then the screen won't work for a long period of time.
If I wait 1 or 2 hours it work again most of the time.
When it doesn't work the batterie indicator blink 3 times white stop and the same schematic is repeated...

Adding a clock battery to action camera to retain date&time when changing batteries Campark X25
            by flat-earther
I have a cheap action camera with an annoying trait, every time I change batteries the date & time gets reset and I have to set it again.

To solve this problem I want to add a small internal battery inside it which will keep supplying power to the camera for a while while I change batteries so the date & time is retained.

I have opened the camera and I think there is enough room to add something inside to accomplish this:

The camera is powered by a 3.7V nominal single cell lithium ion battery.
So I need to connect another battery in...

Asus TUF Gaming F15? Is this worth fixing? PCH WARM
            by iamwise
Hi all, I picked up a liquid damaged Asus TUF Gaming F15, does not power on, model FX506HM-HN004T.

Ive gone as far as removing the case and doing a visual check, there is no visible corrision, upon plugging in the power brick a single led light shows that power is plugged in, but no display or fans, the PCH chipset gets warm/hot to the touch, could this mean its not fixable or do I proceed and remove the motherboard completely and check further for shorts etc, failing that should I just take it to a service centre and go from there

what would you do? my skillset is...
