My theory is: capacitors need some time to 'warm up'.
They have to filter peaks from switching power supply. Feedback control lower voltage to protect from overvoltage. It rises slowly to required 5V

YAHOOO - I replaced 470uF capacitor with correct 100uF - now it detects correct resolution 1920x1200 on VGA input.

    Thank you, PlainBill

It's too strange. Resolution is 1920x1200, but monitor detects 1600x1200. It tries to interpolate. Picture isn't so sharp, as in native 1920x1200. I tried to change VGA cable - no change.
    DVI detects correct resolution 1920x1200

Graphic card is Matrox G400 - excellent D/A converter.

    But I haven't got one 100uF/25V - I replaced it with 470uF (12V branch)
Might there be any problem with it?
The monitor has only one issue - when VGA cable is connected, electronic wrongly identifies mode. Instead of 1920/1200 only 1600/1200. Probably another capacitor in electronic.
    DVI is OK

I will add another ACER - AL1921. The same symptoms as AL2021 - no blue LED.

Typical issue - bulged capacitors. I replaced bulged only. Monitor is OK now.

The second one has cold join under L101.

I won't start new thread, I will add another monitor of ACER brand.
AL2021. It won't work. No blue LED in off mode.

Typical issue - bulged capacitors. I replaced them all. Monitor is OK now.

I want to use brand capacitors, but I'm not able to buy it in Slovakia. I tried to order from Mercateo.at, but they have minimal order 100 EUR.
I have to use YAGEO capacitors - I will see, if they are reliable.

replace all other crap brands while you are at it.
not sure about those hitano caps.
you have proof it is worth it so order some caps from the known good list and finish the job.
panasonic fc or fm are easy to get and ideal for your app.

I dismount it, and found three capacitors blown at power board - CS14, CS15, CS16.

Power board Fortron - model FSP 112-3F01

I replaced them, and now it works OK.
Now it is time to do the Badcaps Salute. Extend your right arm straight up, palm facing forward. Bend your arm at the elbow, rotating it slightly so your hand goes behind your head. Pat yourself firmly between the shoulder blades and repeat after me: "Well Done!!"
