No question here, just came to give a great big THANKS to all you guys who help out on this forum!
I found this forum earlier this week when looking for solutions to my problem with my SyncMaster 245BW. A lot of people were having the screen flicker/blank screen problem, but not many people were having the same issue as I was (no power at all, not even the blue LED). Then I came across this thread by Ober, describing the EXACT issue I was having - all the way down to the exact same two capacitors being slightly swollen (CB879 and CB809). I followed along with all the testing that was done in the thread and was convinced that what worked for him would work for me.
Having very little soldering experience, I did some research here and on YouTube and practiced on some junk boards until I was confident I could handle a cap replacement. I took the advice of many of the veterans and replaced ALL the caps on my power supply rather than just the two I figured were the issue. I also replaced the three resistors that everyone seems to have issues with (RB805, RB806, and RB807). I just finished a little while ago and I'm happy to say that my monitor is working perfectly!
So THANKS AGAIN!! Particularly to retiredcaps, selldoor, Rtech, budm, and momaka, without whose advice I might not have been able to salvage this monitor. And thanks to all you other guys and gals who volunteer your time to help out people like me!
