    Zenith P50W26 flicker

Hello. I recently got an old Zenith P50W26 50" plasma display (10+ years, ~7000 hours used). It's technically not a TV. Anyway, it still works well, there are no problems with the image, but the entire display flickers like an old CRT monitor. The kind of flicker you can see better out of the corner of your eye. I notice it a lot more than other people I've asked. The flicker is much more noticeable on slow motion video which I can upload if anyone asks. This flicker is more apparent on brighter scenes and is independent of video source.

Va and Vs seem normal with a multimeter, but an oscilloscope shows some serious noise, especially on Va. Here are screenshots of the scope.

These are with a nearly white input. Is this ripple out of spec? Could it be a cause of the problem or a symptom of a bigger problem?

Nothing seemed visually wrong to me. I can take pictures and upload them by request. The service manual is easily available on the internet.

I do not have a capacitor tester. I could throw one together quickly with an arduino unless you think buying one would make more sense. I have access to a clamp current meter, a digital storage oscilloscope (50Mhz), an analog oscilloscope (100Mhz), an auto ranging DMM, a temperature controlled solder and hot air station, and basic electronic components on hand.

    Re: Zenith P50W26 flicker

Mods, even though this is technically a monitor, it's more like a plasma TV. Do you think this would do better moved to the TVs forum?

Samsung flicker - BN44-00932T board or else?
      by fixit007
I picked up this TV that the prior owner said - just died.

Tested the fuse - burnt. A dead capacitor is visible too on the hot side (CP801). Got the replacement power board (cheaply - used). Replaced the board - the TV turned ON!

Now, about a month later (yesterday) I noticed the left side of the screen was flickering from time to time. That was already happening with the antenna input, not through HDMI.

Also, some glitchiness with a Fire stick on HDMI3 - I hit an app with quick dark screen in stick, the TV goes - no input. Then I had to choose the stick...

How not to Damage an Oscilloscope
      by Tarot Superstars
      Hello.
I have jut got my first analogue oscilloscope. An Isotech 620 20MHz.

I want to learn how not to damage it, and I found instructions on the internet obscure.
They talk about ground, earth, floating ground, this, that....
But they don't actually say anything anything useful so far.

      I want to know:
Don't connect exactly this to exactly there or it blows up.

For example, I am tracing a signal from a function generator in an audio amp, or testing for voltages in different parts of a circuit.
I want to know what not to connect...

      UN65TU7000 strobing / flicker
      by howardc64
Good picture but has ~200Hz+ faint flicker/strobing over entire screen. Also has a single green vertical line. Can mask out t-con signals (2pins) to stop flicker/strobing but 1/12 of screen will be all colorful vertical lines (single green vertical line is in this section)

Since can mask t-con signal to disable part of the screen and stop flicker/strobing. Obviously not backlight.

Panel has 4x driver boards each responsible for 1/4 of the screen. 3 tabs on each board. Each tab responsible for 1/12 of the screen. the 2 outer most tabs has additional horizontal gate control...

Zenith Z50PJ240 - White Screen with 'Power Only' displayed
      by cmonkey
Turned on my lovely plasma and after about 30 seconds the screen below showed up. None of the inputs are responsive, just the red light flashes when I push it. Remote doesn't work either. To turn it off I need to unplug it and when I plug it in again it turns back on to this screen.

I only found one reference to this issue with a different model but it didn't look super reliable. Only mentioned a 'main board fault'. The main board for this one is on ebay for $34 so might need to go with that.

      Anyone seen this before?

Thinking about it some more, it happened...

      Dynamco analogue oscilloscope
      by Evets
I have recently acquired a Dynamco D7100 analogue oscilloscope without a user manual. As this is the first time I have owned or used an oscilloscope I would like to try and find an instruction book. The manufacturers no longer hold any information and a Google search only found one site but when I downloaded a 'service manual' all I got was gobbledegook. Any help would be gratefully appreciated or even pointers to a generic manual where I could learn more.
