    Issue with Samsung Syncmaster 225BW

    Hi,
I'm new here. I had seen some threads on cap issues with this monitor.
Couple of questions. Has it been settled what vendor/part numbers are required to replace them? Is soldering involved? I have not done detailed soldering before, so I want to know what I'm thinking about delving into. What tools might I need?
Symptoms are that the monitor has to be turned off and on several times before it will display the image. I suppose it's warming up.

Thanks for help with this. The screen itself is fine and I hate to just throw it out if it can be easily fixed.

I do not know if your model uses the same version as the one I fixed or not. You will need good 40~60Watts iron, solder braid or solder sucker, flux, leaded solder.

Thanks Bud. Do you think I need to do a bunch of testing or does my issue sound like replacing common caps will do it?

You will have to open it up and at least look at the caps first.

Is that in order to find out what type they are or whether they are bad? One of the threads here stated that sometimes they don't even appear to be bad. In any case, I can't perform surgery for about a week. I'm waiting on my new laptop to arrive and can't take the change of destroying this monitor until it gets here.

Samsung SyncMaster 740n Phase Control Issue
            by vincentedel
            Hello,
I'm having an issue with the Samsung 740n's phase control setting. When I use the automatic adjustment, it sets the value to around 54 (with a range of 0-100), and the picture looks clear and sharp. However, after some timeβ€”like after playing a gameβ€”the text starts to look blurry. When I auto-adjust again, it may increase the value to 80, and everything becomes sharp once more. Yet, after a while, whether it's a few hours or a day later, the same blurriness returns, and I have to adjust it again.

I'm using the Samsung 740n monitor drivers instead of the default plug-and-play...

            Samsung Syncmaster 740BF repair
            by soopacrucial
            Hi folks,

I'm new here and was wondering whether you might be kind enough to give me some advice on troubleshooting the following problem:

Quite a few years ago now, a couple of years from new, my Samsung Syncmaster 740BF LCD monitor starting playing up by making a buzzing noise and then the display would go blank. I seem to remember the blue power led would also go off when this happened but that I'm not 100% sure of. By pressing the power button I do remember I could at first get it working again but eventually the problem would come back. At the time I had read about...

            QE65Q800TATXXC Samsung TV Issue
            by Manucsl
            Hello.

My TV is a QE65Q800TATXXC Samsung TV.

Issue : When you plug the 220V, voltages are OK on the power board and you can hear the click from the relay, but TV is not starting when power button is pressed. Red led is blinking when you press power button. But no images or sound ( Back-light is off )
Then if you disconnect the cable from the main board to the power supply, the TV back-light turns on.
Any ideas to check would be very appreciated 😊

After reading some posts on this forum, I suspect an eeprom issue so I bought a CH341A to dump...

            Display issue Samsung TV UA65JS9000W
            by FourRunner
I purchased a used Samsung TV model UA65JS9000W recently knowing it had an issue with the screen. When switched on the picture was bright both sides of the screen but a little darker in the middle of the screen. Thinking this was the back lights (side mounted LCD strips) I replaced these, however the issue is still there. I am now thinking it may be a TCOM issue, but am not sure, any advice on this would be appreciated. Also whilst changing out the back lights I noticed the the thick clear plastic sheet (maybe 1.5 to 2mm thick) below the diffusers there is cracking (up to 75mm) on the sides and...
