    Adi E55 Crt

On my P3 machine (running WinNT 4), I have a Viglen-branded CRT monitor - according to the Device Manager though, it's an ADI E55. About 3 inches over from the left of the screen is a noticeable dark stripe, running from the top of the screen to the bottom. The picture can still be seen underneath the stripe; it's not obscuring anything - but tends to be annoying, especially if you are looking at another part of the screen and see the stripe out of the corner of your eye.

The stripe seems to be most obvious with darker backgrounds - such as the default green color desktop that Windows 95, 98 and NT use. As I'm typing this message now, I can barely see it (white background). Minimizing the browser window, the stripe becomes obvious.

I used the OSD and moved the picture horizontally left and right; and also degaussed the monitor - no change in the stripe position or visibility. I guess that rules out video signals going into the monitor.

That leaves me with two possibilities - screen burn, or a problem with the electron gun control circuits (or shadow mask).
I don't remember leaving anything on the screen for an extended period of time; certainly nothing that could have burnt the screen in that particular spot. Indeed, I switch off the monitor when I leave the PC unattended! Perhaps it's screen burn from when this PC and monitor was used as a work machine, although I don't know why I never noticed it before.

Can you guys suggest any more tests I could do, or a possible fix?
You know there's something wrong when you open your PC and it has vented Rubycons...

What about a photo? Did you try it with some other machine?
    BTW. I have ADI ProVista E44 - it's like E55 but smaller

How thick is the stripe? If its really thin, I've seen on Trinitron type monitors where two of very thin mask wires, which run from top to bottom from across the width of the monitor will get stuck together causing a now noticable line . Usually this happens if the monitor was jostled severely (ie: UPS shipping). Giving the monitor a good thwap on the top of the monitor is usually enough to get the grid to unstick.

AOC U34G3XM, new monitor, black screen with backlight on, possible shortcircuit during dissassembly
        by turmix
Hello, I'm working on a new deskmod pc project and have a problem with my monitor, an AOC U34G3XM, well, I may have bricked it.

The monitor was dismanteled and the separate parts parts integrated in the desk. the screen panel alone is on the upper part, and main board/video board + power board on the back of the desk (not enough place on the cover to fit it)
At first everything was working smoothly, then I decided to change the connexion between the video board and the screen for a longer one. Still working fine

During another reassembly, I made a mistake, and...

HannStar Hanns-G HC194d LCD monitor repair
        by momaka
Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

A2141 Screen replacement. Boots screen freezes on Apple Logo 1/3 status bar unless connected to second monitor.
        by abajor
        Having this very weird issue.
The owner of this laptop complained about screen being intermittent when opening and closing, and has been using the laptop on a thunderbolt video connection since the screen failed.

I swapped with a working screen from an A2141 waiting for parts.

The Os exhibits this weird behavior where it boots to to 1/3 the status bar, then it makes the boop sound. It's at the log in but for whatever reason the desktop isn't loaded.

The laptop boots fine into recovery mode. I updated from Monterey to Sonoma and the laptop still has...

AOC 27 monitor Q27G2WG4 doesn't display logo or image on screen
        by 3D Modelka
Hello. I have a problem with my AOC 27 monitor, specifically model Q27G2WG4, which I have been using for 3 years. The monitor stopped turning on: when I turn it on, the backlight turns on, the indicator starts glowing white, but the logo on the screen does not appear, and there is no image. However, if I check in the Windows system, the monitor is displayed as connected and working. I tried connecting it via HDMI and DP, but the result remains the same. If I turn the monitor on and off multiple times, it will eventually start and work. However, when the monitor is working, there are no issues....

Dell 34 inch U3419W Monitor with thin stripes on partial screen
        by ChristianBr01
        Hello everyone,
I have a Dell U3419W Monitor that has some thin stripes on a part of the screen since Tuesday.
This lines cover about a third of the screen and appear for 2 seconds before disappear for another 2 seconds.
This repeats the whole time. I have not opened the case yet cause I had no time, but will try to fix it on this weekend. For me, it looks like a problem on the TCon... Am I right?
Does someone have seen this before?...
