My trusty monitor recently developed a nasty habit of the display flashing rapidly when first powered up, and keeps flashing for several minutes before stabilizing.
The display (computer boot screen) is there, just rapidly blinking on-off. No sounds or noises.
It will give you a headache watching it.
I am using a Dell Latitude in a docking station.
When I just work on the lap top there is no problem, so I know it is the monitor.
This began a couple of months ago, and seems to be getting worse. I just turn it on and leave the room for a while before returning to finish the boot process.
One more tid-bit....for a few years now the display will randomly "flash" once, like disappear and come back immediately. Doesn't happen very often, maybe a few times a day (I may be on the computer 8+ hours at a time).
I am sure that is related and had taken it as a sign of impending doom when it began, but the monitor has continued to work for quite some time, and the display (when stable) is crystal clear and normal.
For the last couple of weeks I have just left the system running 24 hours a day so I won't have to wait to start every morning. Still chugging along. But I would rather power down at night.
Haven't opened it up yet....now that I have found this most excellent forum I thought I would see if any of you have recommendations of what to look for or at when I do?
