    Samsung 2443BW monitor caps replacement

    Hi,

I'm a newbie here, and haven't soldered anything in over a decade - but I'm not letting that stop me! I just bought a merely ok soldering station, a solder sucker, and some solder, and am about to embark on a recovery mission.

My Samsung 2443BW 24" monitor has gone dull and dim on me, and I'm pretty sure the caps are to blame. Although they all seemed flat and not very bulged outwards when I inspected the power board, there was a little suspect wet-patch remains under one of them - again it didnt look as if it was leaking. So anyway, I've decided to just replace all but the largest capacitor, 9 in all, to see if I can get it working. I've had a look here and managed to source Panasonic FC series replacements for 8 of the 9 from one place, but they didnt stock a 3.3uF 50V "gold strip" capacitor, so I went with a PW series Nichcon from another place. Now I'm having doubts though - which is better of these two:

http://uk.farnell.com/panasonic/eeue...5mm/dp/2079117 - this is silver edged, hence not as recommended?
    http://uk.farnell.com/nichicon/upw1h...-20/dp/1821681 - the one I've ordered elsewhere.

I could have got that panasonic one from the same place I got the other 8 but was discouraged because it wasnt specifically recommended here, whereas Panasonic FC's and Nichicon PW's were.

All the original caps were Samyoung brown sleeved jobs apart from the 820uF were NXH - yellow sleeved with black writing (which may also be Samyoung).

Original caps:................... (to be) Replaced with:

    2x 820uF 25V NXH............. 820uF 25V Panasonic FC
    2x 1000uF 10V Samyoung... 1000uF 10V Panasonic FC
    1x 330uF 10V Samyoung..... 330uF 25V Panasonic FC
    2x 680uF 25V Samyoung..... 680uF 25V Panasonic FC
    1x 100uF 16V Samyoung..... 100uF 25V Panasonic FC
    1x 3.3uF 50V Samyoung...... 3.3uF 50V Nichicon PW

    Does that look ok?
Also, I'm still thinking about whether "PANASONIC - EEUEB1J3R3 - CAPACITOR, 3.3UF, 63V, 5X15MM" would have been a better choice than "NICHICON - UPW1H3R3MDD1TD - CAPACITOR ALUM ELEC, 3.3UF, 50V, 20%, RADIAL" because the panasonic one is rated at 7000hours compared to the Nichicon's 1000hours. Any thoughts?

edit: oh... the joys of ordering things before looking around properly. http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/alumin...tors/0571246P/ - 3.3uF 50V Panasonic FC series from RS. Nowhere I was looking had this in stock, but then I just searched for "3.3uF 50V panasonic FC" and lo and behold. :/ Should I just get this instead?
