    Samsung Syncmaster 226BW

I've got a Samsung SyncMaster 226BW that I replaced the caps on but the screen is dark. I'm not a newbie to soldering or cap replacement, but this is a bit more than I have dealt with as far as troubleshooting goes and I am trying to expand my skills.

It looks like the previous owner might have tried a recap on it, but I went ahead and replaced them with Panasonic FCs and an FM for the 330uf 25V in C112. It powers up but is dark, not a 2 seconds to black, just dark from the get go. Power indicator is on and the image is visible with a flashlight. The fuse is good, I've checked that.

    So, now my questions...

Am I correct in assuming I likely have a lamp problem?
Do I need to buy 4 lamps or just 1?
How would I go about troubleshooting the lamps to figure out which one(s) is bad?

See if the mosfets on the inverter board/section are shorted or not.

Also, check to make sure BL_ON is > 3V DC on the power board.

PS. I have one of these and I really like the display. I got it as "not working". It was a simple capacitor replacement job. This is easily my favourite monitor.

I checked IC703, but I am not sure how to test IC702 and IC705 because there are 5 pins and not 3.

        IC703 readings were
        1/2 .378
        1/3 .686
        2/3 .686

I found a BL-EN on the inverter board. Is that it? And how do I test it?

BL-En(able) DC volts looking for approx 3v between that pin and ground. when a signal is applied from a PC,and the Power LED showing it has recognised that signal

            Rtech,

Thanks for the clarification, but will you give me specifics on testing that, please? I do not see a pin labeled ground. Please be detailed in DMM setting, which pins to test across, whether the unit is powered on or unplugged, etc.

Pins 2,3 and 4 are Ground (GND),Pin 9 is marked ON/OFF.Meter set to DC Volts,Black lead(-) to either 2,3 or 4, and red (+) to pin 9.You are looking for between 3 and 4 volts DC.The monitor needs to be put back together Power on, and a input signal from a Computer.

I had tested F101. I hadn't even seen F301. But that looks like it is blown. I will start by replacing that F301 fuse. Good call, Smason. Thanks.

I changed the F301 fuse and powered it up. Same issue. No backlights. I rechecked the fuse and it's blown again. Any ideas?

Shorted FETs. What are the part numbers on U302 and U303?

I gather they are, and tested them as P-channel FETs. They are both reading .500 (diode mode) 6/7 pins + to 2/3 pins - in circuit.

They's dual FETs so each device is 2 FETs.
I think this is the device:

                          Which should mean that
                          Fet1 D S G
                          Pin 8&7 1 2

                          FET2 D S G
                          Pin 6&5 3 4
