Dell E228WFP - Random Turn Off

So I got one of these monitors free of craigslist, and at first it wouldn't turn on at all. Had a few 'ing caps. Replaced them all and it started right up and used it for about a week. Now it's starting to do the well known random turn off. Apparently there's a resistor that's underrated that's turning the monitor off.

Here is the thread regarding the resistor. CLICK HERE!!!!

Any thoughts on if I should just do what this thread says, or go through the whole trouble shooting process?

The resistor change/addition described, says it can cause even more problems.Myself and others have changed one of the smd caps,as that seems to be a cause of this sort of problem on a number of these monitors.it may be C803,but if you read all the threads on these you will indentify it.

I re-read the whole thing and you're right, not digging the half of a side going dim. But the C803 is such a small cap, I don't know if I'm capable of fixing something that small.

If you check the threads on this, you will see in photos how I fixed a much larger replacement cap.

I searched "E228WFP" on this forum before posting and I didn't find any?

Post 52, tells you value of cap 0.1uF, at 50VDC

I saw that, but as far as lead spacing, tolerance, etc... anything else I need to worry about?

Nothing special,it was a simple disc cap, taken from an old Benq board.one of the posts shows how it was positioned etc.

Crap, I'll have to see if I have any old boards laying around. Don't want to pay $10 for one + shipping.

                              Hi

I am trying to repair an ancient Dell 2209WA Monitor which suddenly shut off with a pop sound. On investigation found that one of the fusible resistors had blown. Further investigation identified multiple components as faulty because of which the fusible resistor blew. Please refer the attached circuit diagram showing the components that were found to be damaged.

                              1. FR950 - blown fusible resistor - 0.2 Ohm 1W
                              2. Q950 - shorted Q950 MOSFET - 650V 10A N Channel Mosfet
                              3. R835 - Blown Resistor - 20KOhm SMD resistor
                              4. D930 - Shorted Schottkey Diode...

Dell latitude e7470 not turn on .power buton on off and Run Power problem
                              by masoksian
                              Hi everyone,

I am dealing with the problem of turning on and off my Dell e7470 notebook.

The battery charge light is solid white, I press the button, the power indicator and the light on the button are solid for 1-2 seconds and immediately turn off.

The system does not turn on, there is no post.

I removed the RAMs and changed them, changed the battery, RTC battery, AC adapter, removed them and waited, tried again, it does not turn on.
The problem continues in the same way.
I tried to turn on the Fn key, nothing came to the screen....

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
                              by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell...

I just recieved a working laptop for a quick dc port swap, i tested the laptop on battery it worked, tested dc port issue felt loose, so disassembled the laptop and removed battery connector, swapped the dc port, re-connected the battery connector, inserted dc pin, white led glowed up - stable, pressed power switch, but it didn't turn on, no fan spin and no display. just 1 white led that glows up, doesn't move to orange (charging), i check voltage (battery : 11.37v) (dc input port : 19.3v)(bios : 1.75), i am stumped, there is no shorting on board.
