Greetings,
I've got a Samsung 932B LCD monitor that has an unfortunate affliction - every so often (the frequency seems to depend on the image) the screen goes black for half a second and then comes back. The blue power light on the power switch stays on continuously. I'm embarrassed to admit that it's been doing this ever since it was brand new - I originally bought it to use with an old laptop and for some reason I assumed that it was some kind of problem related to the video card. It's been in storage for a while and now that I'm using it again, I realize the issue wasn't related to the old laptop.
When there's nothing on the display but my desktop background image (a picture of the cosmos, quite dark), the flickering on and off happens almost continuously (like every 5 seconds). Other times it will only happen rarely (every 5-10 minutes).
I realize now I should have returned/exchanged the monitor as soon as I got it, but given that I'm stuck with it, is there any hope of fixing the problem? I am quite handy with a soldering iron and have a CS/EE background so I'm not afraid to take the monitor apart and replace components on PCBs if that's what it takes. I also have access to a scope, multimeter, etc. Most of the problems I've read about on this board seem to be related to bad capacitors, but I'm not sure how likely that is in this case given that it's had this problem since it was brand new (though I realized that doesn't rule it out).
Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated! I'd hate to dispose of this monitor as it works fine except for the extremely annoying random blinking on and off.
Thanks in advance
