    Re: Acer Ferrari F-20 monitor

I have this monitor, and it just failed. Thanks to this board, I was able to identify and replace the bad cap that caused it's failure, and would like to share what I know/found.

    To clarify, it's a 16x9 monitor, 1680x1050 wit 4 lamps.

I have attached photos of the inverter board.

Note, the large cap in the center (where C1 once laid) was the cap that was bad. The details of the cap were hard to read as they were on the underside, glued to the board, and had gotten hot. The cap you see in the photo was it's replacement.

I did get the info though. It was a Saxon, 330uf, 25V, 105 Deg C that failed.

I replaced it with a spare from the junk pile and it fixed the monitor.

The info on the inverter board:

    P/N AS022166D21
Other stickers on the trace side - FM9T60702515A, FS6A7815 0700
Silkscreened labels on top side- 3BS0111610GP, PCB56141C, INV19-4001A
    Attached Files

I don't mean to rain on your sunshine, but the replacement cap you use looks like a general purpose Marcon rated for 85C. If so, it likely won't last very long in that hot inverter. Worst case scenario, it will take out the inverter transistors and fuse. Therefore, you should replace it. I'm assuming the bad Samxon was GF series, but you should confirm that first - if it is, use something like Nichicon HE, United Chemicon KY and KZE, Rubycon YXG and ZL, or Panasonic FR and FM.

You also have Teapo on the video/logic board. Usually they are not a problem unless the monitor likes to run hot.

        I see you attach, you use 5 wire quick disconnect connect on inverte side, is missing one {VCC = input + volt to inverter (yellow wire)}
you need 6 wire quick disconnect connect
universal inverter board need 2 (input + volt to inverter) & 2 Ground (input - volt to inverter)

Here the wire connect to universal inverter board side

1/ VCC = input + volt to inverter (green wire)
2/ VCC = input + volt to inverter (yellow wire)
        3/ On/Off (Black wire)
4/ Adjust or dim (Brown wire)
5/ Ground = input - volt to inverter (Light Brown wire)
6/ Ground = input - volt to inverter (red wire)

Here the wire connect to video board side

1/ VCC = input + volt to inverter (green wire)
2/ VCC = input + volt to inverter (yellow wire)
        3/ Spare
4/ Ground = input - volt to inverter Light Brown wire)
5/ Ground = input - volt to inverter (red wire)
6/ Adjust or dim (Brown wire)
        7/ On/Off (Black wire)

How to force Acer Aspire Series to bootup BIOS/UEFI on external Monitor?
                by maralexbar
I ask this question in general as there are many Acer Aspire models with UEFI Insyde BIOS that do not boot to the BIOS on an external monitor (VGA, HDMI, etc) showing only the Internal LCD (LVDS, eDP etc).
It's a pain to work on Acer notebooks with a broken screen and not being able to access the BIOS using an external monitor.

If anyone knows how to force the external monitor as primary for Notebooks of those models
