    Benq FP91G+

    Dear all,

I have a Benq FP91G+ that powers on, green led on the power button comes up for a second and dies. There is nothing on the screen during this. I have opened the case and the power supply PCB seems to be significantly discolored at places. I have read about transistors in these boards to go bad. I have not taken any measurements yet, but I am looking for pointers on the where to start.

Here is a couple pictures from the board. If asked I'll upload close-up pictures as well.

    Thanks in advance,

    Re: Benq FP91G+

Welcome to the forum! Nice photos always help.

    You could potentially several problems:

    1) About half your caps appear to be bulged, which is a key indication they are bad. They should ALL be replaced with low-esr caps with the exception of the large 450V (unless it's also buldged or leaking).

    2) Failures of these boards are also caused by poor solder joints on the 4 inverter transformers. Resolder all the legs of each inverter transformer.

    3) The poor transformer solder joints can cause the following to fail:
    Q806,809,815,816 (2SC5707?)
    Q805,812 (FU9024N?)
    PF801 fuse

Check the transistors for shorts and the fuse for continutity. If they check good, then your problem "MIGHT" be just the caps.

Onkyo A8200 - Not the right voltages in some transistors
      by Francesc V.
      Hi:

I am trying to repair this amplifier that I've bought as faulty. I've found some transistors damaged, the ones where I am drawing a red circle.

With the final transistors not yet installed (the expensive ones), I've started to measure some voltages:

Where I am supposed to have 1.12V (base Q524/Q523) I am reading -42V..................both channels don't seem ok.
Where I am supposed to have -1.12V (base Q526/Q525) I am reading -44V..................both channels don't seem ok.
I removed and tested Q514,Q516 & Q513,Q515 but the analyzer...

Sundown SFB-8000D What are these transistors?
      by redbaron1007
I had a Sundown SFB-8000D amp come into the shop yesterday that wasn't giving any output. The guy who brought it in said he bought it off some crack head on Facebook marketplace for a good price, but bought it knowing it was broken. Apparently the original owner was cutting out the transistors to the right of the ones pictured whenever one would blow and take the output out. Best I can figure he also cut the legs on the S5 and S6 ic's as well and soldered them back together.

My problem is Sundown decided in the factory to remove the original markings on the IC's and now I can't figure...

MSI Crosshair 15 A11UEK. Need help with Transistors!!!
      by Bob Wong
Welcome badcaps, repairing a Crosshair 15, in need of transistor specifics. Received a broken laptop that's was perfect for repair, threw away the looser transistors in a haste... Should and could have salvaged them.
In any case, I will be posting all my discoveries to this forum as a thanks in advance. Thanks in advance lol.

P.S. If anyone is familiar with such things, as in, If anyone knows that MSI uses one or one of a few types of transistors when marked with a number please let me know how I can find more specifics before I start throwing hail marys.

Samsung UE70TU6905 BACKLIGHTS AND SOUND ON NO PICTURES BUT SCREEN NOT DARK
      by bohaboha
Hi it looks like everything works don't know where to test except the 390v in the 2 capacitor in the hot side of the power supply and the weird 180v in the diodes in the cold side that should be discharged it is writin on the circuit no more you can read what is written on the circuit quite srrange color mixiing yellow and white
      anyhow i couldn't t read anything else
the backlight is on strong and the screen does not get dark or very dark but no pictures
the mainborad feels a bit hott on the black part i test it to 52 degree's against 34 to 40 on the rest of it

LG 55UH6150- trouble powering up, then half lit screen (pictures!)
      by valvashon
The 55" LG has been in the basement for a few months without being used. Turned it on yesterday, set came on as it should and showed a complete screen for about 5 seconds (was on a broadcast channel but no antenna was connected), then the screen went mostly dark with about 1/3 of the screen on the right lighting up with brighter lines in that lit part (sorry, no pictures of that). Power LED was cycling too, preventing the TV from fully powering up.
Pulled the back off, all boards looked OK. Pulled the LED connector, turned the set on to see if it would power up but I don't belive it...
