The power (SMPS) transformers very rarely fail. Inverter transformers are a more common point of failure. The best approach is to search and locate an exact replacement. A number of inverter transformers appear to be physically identical, but have different turns ratios. Physically, they are interchangeable. Electrically, they are not.
