Samsung 305T - Is this the Altera BGA chip issue?

    Hi Guys,
I have a 3 year old samsung 305T that just started to exhibit a strange issue. Its hard to exlpain, but its a blue distortion. It flickers and moves all around the screen. It is especially bad when there is a dark background. I attached a couple pics.

Is this the Altera BGA chip issue? I can have it reballed for about $100, but want to be sure before I spend the bucks.

    Thanks,

If you haven't done so, take it apart and post good focused photos of the entire power supply top and bottom. Also, post a photo of the logic board. Do not post photos inline, but use the "manage attachments" button.

Guide to transplant MEC1503 EC chip and EEPROM reprogamming for T14s gen 2 and X13 gen 2
      by acedogblast
This is a guide that I am writing for helping others to replace their MEC1503 EC chip if it breaks (or to get around an inconvenient prompt to the BIOS). This forum has been extremely helpful to me so I would like to contribute to help others. I will tell you right now that this task is very difficult to do. You MUST have experience and tools to do precision micro-soldering, BGA reballing, trace repair, and general laptop repair skills.

There are some specialty tools needed to do this task. The replacement MEC1503 chips can be acquired from Aliexpress. Do not buy the bare chips as...

Samsung Series 9 - BIOS issue
      by Kjell
After installing Linux, I can no longer enter the BIOS of my Samsung Series 9 (NP900X3C) laptop. When pressing [F2] during boot I simply get a black screen. Same thing when pressing [F10] and choosing "Setup" from the "App Menu" tab. Apparently this is a relatively common issue with Samsung laptops of that generation, but unfortunately i haven't been able to resolve the issue (yet).

Things i've tried so far; reinstalled Windows 10, checked for redundant boot entries, tried to factory reset using the emergency keyhole, attempted to clear the NVRAM by physically...

A1989 Logic Board Repair Issue. One CD3215 chip is the culprit
      by Stephen
As the title states, got one CD3215 chip being a complete butthole to me. All readings on the other 3 chips read as follows
      5.16V .47amp
      5.16V .47amp
      5.16V .47amp
5.16V .04amp (this guy is the issue) (U3200)

So I went ahead and replaced the chip, (actually 3 times with 3 new CD3215 chips) all same issue, at first it wasn't reading at all then it finally started reading. I can rest assured is it not the CD3215 chip now but something else is causing this port to not fully read (god I wish the board would just turn on so we can just recover the data)

Samsung DM32D – Red LED blinks 5 times, won’t start (possible mainboard issue)
      by Nairolf
      Hello,

      I have a Samsung DM32D display.
When I try to power it on, the red LED blinks 5 times and nothing happens—the unit won’t start.

Here’s what I have tried so far:
      1. Disconnected the cable between the mainboard and the power supply → the backlight turns on.
      2. Disconnected the main T-CON ribbon cable → same issue as before, the LED still blinks 5 times.
      3. Disconnected one of the two T-CON ribbons to the panel (tested each one separately) → same issue, the LED blinks 5 times.

From these tests, I suspect the problem might be on the mainboard. Could anyone...
