    Asus vw223 22"

Recently I bought a cheapo second-hand LCD ASUS VW223 monitor to replace my 15 inch + 17 inch setup, it appears to be working fine apart from the fact that it makes a slight hissing noise that Im able to hear even sitting 1m away from it. The noise is there no matter if the monitor is on or off. Since the it is still covered by warranty till 14.02.2011 I dont want to take it apart to see if it has any blown/semi-dead components.

Basically, Im just curious, if anyone else has this particular model and is experiencing the same kind of issue ??

If its just this monitor than off it goes to the warranty service center.

When you mean the monitor is 'off ' ...presume you mean that although it is switched off at the monitor power switch, the Mains voltage from the Mains socket is still on ??.That means the monitor psu is still partially working, and producing some outputs..therefore if it is hissing, sounds like a warranty return to me.

What I meant is when the monitor is in idle state, actually...
When it's off completely (turning it off physically by button) it still does this hissing noise, however it can be barely heard even if you put your ear to the back of the monitor. As soon as I turn the power on again and the monitor goes to idle or stays on if my PC is running the noise becomes way louder.

I used to have a Fujitsu Siemens monitor that would do the hissing noise when it's completely off, as soon you fire it up it wont hiss. With this Asus monitor it's all the way around ...

So in fact, when you switch on, the noise increases, as the current from the PSU increases !!!still a warranty job for me.

ok, looks like it is going to the service center in that case.
          Thanks for your assistance.
