    Lcd power

I bought another lcd today without a power supply; another with the four pins in something like a five sixteenths square. This is an "Ever Yoke" model tl700a; the other is an hp pavilion 170. Can anyone tell me the voltages on the pins, by any chance? I know the Ever Yoke is 12v but not on which pins.

    Look at the PCB.
+12v will be the pins that aren't ground.

Hey, thanks for that, PCBONEZ. I've worried that mystery for awhile.

Rigged a 12v power supply and the Ever Yoke works fine. The hp however starts up with a very yellow screen, cuts on and off randomly until desktop, at which point it shuts down completely. Do I have a problem here of the wrong voltage maybe_ it's not marked_ or does this sound like a pcb problem? I haven't checked caps or anything yet.

Check your power is right first.
Look up replacement power bricks for the HP.

Looked for that thing for I guess a year or more now; have yet to find one_or any kind of documentation on this bird. You'd think they only made the one unit.

The HP bird or the Yoke bird?

I was talking about finding the voltage for the HP.

Both birds actually. I've had the hp quite awhile without being able to find anything on it; the Ever Yoke I just bought but couldn't find anything on it either. Add to these the Apple Cinema I have and it's getting to be a flock.

Anyway the Ever Yoke is good now; I'll just use it for a bench unit.

HP Pavilion 170 is a system not a monitor.
Look up replacement power bricks for the monitor's model number.

                    Re: Lcd power

I'm cringing in shame, PCBONEZ. Took another look at the hp for another number and suddenly realized I'd read the number wrong to begin with. It's f70, not 170, and ebay has the supplies.

But_since it calls for 12v like my jury-rigged supply I guess that means the unit it's self has a problem. I'm ordering one anyway since it will presumably work on the Ever Yoke. My rig is only 3.3 amps rather than 4 but I doubt that would account for the problem.

Any ideas on where to start looking for the bug?

                      Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

                      Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
                      by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...
